Can I tell you a story? This really happened to me. Hi I am Debea Hare-Bey the CEO of Oh My Heavenly Hair Inc. A Hair Wellness Brand.

When I began developing my product line, the herbalist I trusted walked away with most of my money without completing the job.

I had spent two years preparing with him, making sure he understood my vision and could take it from formulation to finished, retail-ready products. I trusted him because we already had a nine-year business relationship. He had created oils that my salon clients and I loved, and we had never had a problem.

Everything seemed fine—until launch approached and he disappeared.

If you know, you know.

He promised to repay me, made one or two payments and then stopped.

My lawyer advised me to restart, find another formulator and take greater control of my company. That is exactly what I did.

You can sue someone, but you cannot make them pay. And honestly, I cannot tell you what I should have done differently. I did everything I believed was right.

Here is what I haven’t told you: I had purchased a building with a storefront, hired a top public-relations professional and contracted a celebrity spokesperson.

Without the products, everything fell apart.

I was financially devastated and mentally broken.

But God.

With my husband’s love, my family’s support and my determination not to let the dream die, I started again.

From that painful experience came the OMhh Fabulously Therapeutic Vegan Spa Collection—a hair wellness line created with purpose, perseverance and far greater control.

And do you know how I knew I had created something special?

In the 2000s, Amazon wanted to purchase my entire line—which they did. Every product received five-star ratings.
