Let’s talk about pre/post waxing care! 🤍
Prepping for waxing is just as important as the aftercare! 🧖♀️
Always let your esthetician know about any prescriptions or topical treatments that may affect your skin (ex: retinoids, Accutane, or other medications that may thin the skin)!
Before waxing:
- 24-48 hours prior to your appointment, exfoliate the area that will be waxed gently. This will remove dead skin and help prevent ingrown hairs!
- Moisturize with a lightweight moisturizer up until 24 hours before your appointment. Moisturizing helps keep your skin healthy, elastic, and more tolerant to the hair removal.
On appointment day:
- The area(s) that will be waxed should be clean and dry. No lotions, oils, deodorant, or self tanner should be applied the day of your appointment.
After waxing:
- For the first 48 hours, avoid anything that could irritate your skin. This can include wearing tight or synthetic clothing, exfoliating your skin, strong sunlight, saunas, hot tubs, hot showers, tanning beds, etc. Anything that could produce sweating or introduce bacteria to your sensitive, freshly waxed skin should be avoided. Keeping the skin clean and dry during this time is best.
- For any skin irritation post waxing, you can soothe it with a cold compress, aloe vera, or your favorite gentle post wax calming oil.
- After the first 48 hours, you can begin exfoliating 2-3 times per week to help prevent ingrown hairs.
- Use a hydrating, non-comedogenic (to help prevent pore clogging) moisturizer on the area.
- Try not to shave, tweeze, or pick at any new hairs that come up between appointments. This can affect your waxing cycle and can cause irritation.

Some things should always win.
- Staying consistent in your skincare routine will always yield better results than switching it up constantly. That’s not to say that sometime things may need to change in your routine (with guidance from a skincare professional), but products need time to work. ✨
- It can be easy to put off self care. Setting aside time for yourself, even a small amount, will make a HUGE difference. 🤍
- SPF should be worn daily, even if it’s cloudy or if you’re just staying inside! ☀️
- Staying hydrated is a very underrated part of skincare and over all health! Drink your water! 💧

Chemical peel season is here! 🤍
A chemical peel is a professional exfoliation treatment that uses acid to remove dead skin cells, improve texture, and reveal a brighter, smoother complexion. These are some general do’s and don’ts for chemical peel aftercare:
DO:
✨ Use the PCA Skin aftercare kit provided! You will receive a post-treatment kit that has a complete regimen of travel sized products that are specifically selected to ensure that your skin stays calm, soothed, and hydrated after your chemical peel treatment.
✨ Wash your face with lukewarm water! Your skin may be sensitive post-treatment, so using lukewarm water will help prevent any additional sensitivity.
✨ Protect your skin with SPF! While your skin is healing, it is very important to protect your vulnerable skin from the sun.
DON’T:
❌ Expose yourself to heat! While healing, if possible, avoid excessive heat and sweating. This can hinder recovery time.
❌ Pick at your skin! Allow your skin to shed on its own. Picking can result in scarring, infection, or bleeding.
❌ Seek additional treatments while your skin is healing! After a chemical peel, your skin is vulnerable. It is best to wait until your skin has fully healed to have additional treatments (for example: waxing) done.
