Starting over as a seasoned stylist has definitely been a journey. After spending over 20 years building my clientele in New York and then moving to Florida, I realized starting over at this stage in my career looks a lot different.

Almost 30 years behind the chair has taught me that it’s not just about a client choosing a stylist. We have to be a good fit for each other.

There’s so much that comes with starting over that I don’t think we really talk about enough as seasoned stylists.

What’s the difference between a custom wig and a ready-to-buy wig?

The biggest difference is how much of the wig is tailored specifically to you.

With a custom wig, you’re part of the process from start to finish. Your measurements, cap construction, hair texture, length, density, color, cut, lace size, comb and band placement can all be customized based on your preferences, lifestyle, and how you plan to wear your wig.

A ready-to-buy wig is already designed and constructed. You’re choosing from the cap size, hair length, texture, color, and overall style that has already been selected. Some adjustments can still be made, but it won’t offer the same level of personalization as a custom wig.

Both can be made with premium quality human hair. The difference is really about the level of customization and fit.

PART 2: From Bundles to a Custom Ginger Wig 🧡

Now that we’ve taken our bundles from black to this beautiful ginger, it’s time to turn them into a wig!

In Part 2, I’m taking the bundles we colored and creating a full custom wig from start to finish. For the final look, I added heavy face-framing layers and big, full-volume curls to really bring the color and movement to life.

Because sometimes the color is only the beginning the cut and styling are what bring the entire look together. 🔥
