A new job, school, location, or other life event can cause big changes in your eating habits.

Even though life may be crazy, it’s important to prioritize eating consistently throughout the day so you have enough energy!!

You may not feel as hungry as usual, or feel like you want to eat at different times than normal. That’s totally ok, as long as you are nourishing your body and prioritizing adequate intake.

Going on vacation is an opportunity to let your body and mind rest.

If you are in the mood to engage in movement, that’s awesome! But if sitting on the beach or in bed all day is more your vibe, that’s great too.

Whatever you choose to do, stay present and try to connect with yourself to get the most out of your well deserved vacation.

With foodborne illnesses and product recalls in the news recently, it’s important to understand how you can access reliable and accurate nutrition information.

Eliminating ALL fruits and vegetables is not recommended, as usually it is just one product or supplier that is contaminated, not the entire produce aisle.

Washing your produce is also a great option, because this removes a majority of dirt and pesticides, but not parasites. Cooking food to a safe internal temperature is the best way to keep yourself safe.

Stay informed, but don’t fear food.

Electrolytes are super popular right now, but do you really need them?

You should be taking into consideration your level of exercise, temperature, how much you sweat, and if you are sick.

Fluid volume is crucial too, as your body needs roughly half of your body weight in oz of water daily.

Stay tuned for part 2 later this week!

Do you feel less hungry when you travel? Or maybe you find yourself craving a meal at a time you usually wouldn’t? Jet lag plays a large role in your hunger cues, and impacts body functions such as digestion, blood sugar, and energy.

When traveling, make sure you are staying hydrated, as well as eating smaller meals more frequently to stay energized. Don’t feel pressure to have your eating schedule match what it is at home!!

Social media nutrition trends often take the internet by storm, but are they really making us healthier?

Often, these trends are rooted in strict rules or severe elimination, which often causes people to be even MORE stressed and focused on what they’re eating.

Instead of following every nutrition trend you see on your feed, focus on balanced eating, movement you enjoy, and connection with loved ones. That will do more for you than any social media fad!

Plant-based eating can be confusing, so let’s talk facts.

Eating plant-based doesn’t mean just eating vegetables, but instead a variety of animal protein, beans, whole grains, as well as a large portion of plants!

I see lots of people turning to highly processed plant based alternatives, and I would instead recommend focusing on whole, unprocessed foods.
