💥MYTH BUSTING: A Weak Pelvic Floor Is Always the Problem💥
When people hear “pelvic floor dysfunction,” one of the first things they often think is:
“I probably just need to strengthen my pelvic floor.”
But that isn’t always the case.
The pelvic floor muscles can be weak, but they can also be overactive, tense, poorly coordinated, or have difficulty relaxing when they need to.
In fact, constantly tightening or doing more Kegels may make certain symptoms worse if the muscles are already holding too much tension.
Signs that pelvic floor tension or poor relaxation may be contributing include:
Pelvic symptoms
🔺Pelvic, vaginal, re**al, or perineal pain
🔺Pain with in*******se or pe*******on
🔺Tailbone or lower abdominal discomfort
🔺Bladder symptoms
🔺Urinary urgency or frequency
🔺Difficulty starting or fully emptying the bladder
🔺Feeling like you have to urinate again shortly after going
Bowel symptoms
🔺Constipation or straining
🔺Difficulty relaxing during a bowel movement
🔺A feeling of incomplete emptying
The reality: A healthy pelvic floor isn’t just strong.
It needs to be able to contract, relax, coordinate, and respond appropriately to what your body is doing.
That’s why pelvic floor treatment isn’t simply “do more Kegels.”
Sometimes strengthening is appropriate.
Sometimes learning to relax is the priority.
And sometimes the goal is improving coordination between the pelvic floor, breathing, core, and movement.
The takeaway: More tension doesn’t always mean more strength — and more strengthening isn’t always the answer.

💥Pelvic Floor Health: It’s for Everyone💥
When you hear “pelvic floor,” you might think about pregnancy or postpartum recovery — but the pelvic floor plays an important role for everyone.
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that helps support the pelvic organs, control bladder and bowel function, contribute to sexual health, and work together with your core and hips during movement.
People of all genders may benefit from pelvic floor physical therapy if they experience:
Bladder symptoms
Leaking with exercise, coughing, sneezing, or lifting
Frequent urgency or needing to urinate often
Difficulty fully emptying the bladder
Bowel symptoms
Constipation or straining
Difficulty coordinating bowel movements
A feeling of incomplete emptying
Pelvic symptoms
Pelvic pain or pressure
Pain with in*******se or sexual activity
Tailbone, perineal, or lower abdominal discomfort
Movement & recovery concerns
Difficulty returning to exercise after pregnancy, injury, or surgery
Core weakness or changes in pressure management during activity
Pelvic floor concerns are common in women and men — and they can happen at many different stages of life.
Understanding how your pelvic floor functions is an important part of overall health, strength, and movement.

We are very excited to announce a new treatment option and member of the Team in Jeffrey Lingenfelter!
Jeffrey will be offering Orthopedic & Regenerative Injections at our Lynnfield office. Learn more below!
Jeff is a board certified physician assistant specializing in orthopedics and regenerative medicine. He has been working as an orthopedic physician assistant for over ten years assisting in the operating room, seeing patients in the office, running PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)/orthobiologic clinics, and running injection clinics independently. Jeff has mastered the use of fluoroscopy (x-ray) and ultrasound to help guide his injections to increase the accuracy. He has developed a passion for making patients feel better, live more active lifestyles and return to the things they love to do. Commonly treated conditions include osteoarthritis, tendinitis, tendon tears, bursitis, muscle and ligament injuries as well as many other musculoskeletal problems.
🔺Injections Offered
▪️PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)
PRP has been used for over 20 years and has been shown by many studies to be the most effective treatment for certain joint and musculoskeletal problems. It uses your own tissues and biologic materials to help heal and recover.
▪️BMAC/Stem Cell
BMAC is an advanced regenerative medicine procedure designed to support the body’s natural healing process. This minimally invasive treatment begins by carefully harvesting bone marrow from the pelvis through a small opening.
▪️Hyaluronic Acid (HA)/Gel Injections
Hyaluronic acid (HA) injections are lubricating injections most commonly used to treat knee arthritis, but they can also be used for arthritis of the hip and shoulder. HA acts as a lubricant and shock absorber within the joint, helping to reduce friction between worn cartilage surfaces. It can also slightly improve joint cushioning, which may help decrease pain and inflammation. Most patients experience symptom relief for up to 6 months, and the injections can be safely repeated as needed if they continue to provide benefit.
▪️Cortisone the body’s natural anti-inflammatory

Breastfeeding care is evolving.
Updated clinical guidance recognizes that many “clogged ducts” are often related to inflammation and narrowing of milk ducts, rather than a true blockage that needs aggressive massage or forceful emptying.

This treatment may help:
🤍 Reduce localized inflammation
🤍 Support milk flow
🤍 Decrease discomfort

As pelvic floor physical therapists, we support the full postpartum journey, including challenges that can affect feeding, comfort, and recovery.
You may benefit if you’re experiencing:
• Localized breast tenderness or fullness
• Recurrent plugged duct symptoms
• Pain with feeding
• Difficulty with milk flow
Our approach prioritizes comfort, inflammation reduction, and supportive care which is aligned with current lactation recommendations.
This offering will only be available at our Concord location with Dr. Katherine Romero. It involves a 60 minute evaluation and 45 minute follow ups
