POV: you had a second child because the first opinion needed a peer review.
One daughter: “Your lipstick is obnoxious.”
The other: “I LIKE IT.”
And honestly… this may be the most accurate explanation of why I believe in second opinions.
Funny at the dinner table, but actually REALLY important in aesthetics.
A consultation is exactly that: a consultation. You are not obligated to let someone inject you just because you sat in their chair.
Look at their work. Look at their philosophy. And yes… look at them. If their personal aesthetic is dramatically different from what you want for yourself, that’s information.
You’re allowed to say, “I want to think about it.”
You’re allowed to consult someone else.
You’re allowed to get a second opinion BEFORE something is injected into your face.
We normalize second opinions in medicine. I think we should normalize them in aesthetics, too.
And apparently in lipstick. 💄😂
Moral of the story: if you’re on the fence about child #2, I’m very happy with my decision.
Child #3? I’ll let you make your own decisions.

One of the best conversations I had today wasn’t about filler or skincare, it was about trust.

Referral relationships are built over years, but they can be damaged in a single appointment.

As providers, I think we all have a responsibility to protect the professionals who trusted us enough to send us their patients. That doesn’t mean patients don’t have the freedom to choose where they receive care and they absolutely do. It means we should be intentional about honoring referral relationships whenever possible.

I’m implementing a better system in my practice to identify referral patients so my team and I can be more mindful of preserving those partnerships.

Because I’d rather earn the trust of another great provider than accidentally lose a relationship over one appointment.

I’m curious... how does your practice handle referral relationships? Let’s have an honest conversation in the comments.
