don’t skip the dermaplane.
let’s debunk the myths—
“dermaplaning makes your hair grow back thicker.” — this is quite literally impossible. The hair is not being removed from the root, it’s because cut at the base. The hair that grows back in is just the same as the hair we removed— thickness, color, texture… nothing changes.
“If I try it once and don’t like it, I have to keep doing it.” — naurrrrrrr!!!! You can dermaplane once for your big event and then never again and have zero repercussions!!! (except for the fact that your skincare will slack in concentration)
“Dermaplaning is the same as shaving.” — And the answer is FALSE. Dermaplaning is not the same as shaving. An OTC razor only removes the hair, not the dead skin. Dermaplaning with a professional blade doesn’t just remove the hair, it also removes dead skin cells residing on the top layer of the epidermis.
“I can just do it at home.” — I can’t even begin to tell you how many times a week I hear this. For the love of Gd… throw away the ti**le razors !!!!
I get it, you’re getting ready and spot a hair or two on your lip and want them gone. no biggie. That’s not the problem. The problem is using them repeatedly over your entire face. Those cutie-colored plastic razors may seem like the perfect way to DIY a skin treatment, but they actually have little plastic notches on them that create micro tears on the skins surface. Over time, we are AGINGGGGG ourselves!!!!
