Hair changes during hormone shifts or weight loss deserve a plan built around the cause.
At Vanished, we’ve added Nutrafol as an option in our hormone and hair-loss care plans. We assess potential drivers—rapid weight loss, low protein or iron intake, thyroid concerns, scalp conditions, and pattern hair loss—before recommending a supplement or other treatment.
Why Nutrafol? Depending on the formula, it combines botanicals such as ashwagandha, saw palmetto, curcumin, and tocotrienols. We pair it with a scalp assessment, adequate nutrition, and individualized care.
In a six-month placebo-controlled study of 40 women with thinning hair, 80.8% of participants taking Nutrafol Women reported improved overall hair growth. Researchers measured a 10.8% increase in total hair count in the studied area, versus 3% with placebo. A separate 2026 study of 180 women reported hair growing 18–37% faster than baseline across four formulations; it did not include a placebo group.
These are published study results—not a Vanished patient satisfaction rate or proof that Nutrafol treats GLP-1-related shedding. Individual results vary.

đź’‰ Why does one neurotoxin injection sting more than another?
Sometimes, it isn’t the needle—or even the neurotoxin. The diluent used to reconstitute the medication can influence how the injection feels.
Bacteriostatic water contains sterile water and a preservative, but no sodium chloride. If the final mixture remains hypotonic compared with our body fluids, that osmotic difference may irritate the tissue and create more burning or stinging.
Bacteriostatic saline contains 0.9% sodium chloride, making it closer to the natural salt concentration of our extracellular fluid. That generally means less osmotic irritation and a more comfortable injection.
The important takeaway: comfort can be influenced by the chemistry of the final solution—not just injector technique.
Every neurotoxin must still be prepared according to its specific manufacturer labeling and appropriate clinical protocols. Always ask what is being injected and why. ✨

COLLAGEN REMODELING: HOW CONTROLLED DAMAGE CAN CREATE REGENERATION
Many aesthetic devices work through the same biological principle: deliver a precise, controlled stimulus, then allow the skin time to repair.
The stimulus may be mechanical, thermal or acoustic—created by microneedling, radiofrequency, fractional laser or microfocused ultrasound. Each device differs in its target, depth and energy profile, but an appropriately selected treatment can initiate a coordinated wound-healing response.
1. Controlled stimulation: Microscopic treatment zones are created while surrounding tissue helps support recovery.
2. Inflammation and signaling: Platelets and inflammatory messengers begin the repair process and release signals that recruit cells involved in healing.
3. Proliferation: Fibroblasts become more active and begin producing extracellular-matrix components, including early collagen.
4. Remodeling: New collagen matures, reorganizes and gradually replaces part of the temporary repair matrix. Elastin and other structural components may remodel as well.
5. Visible change: Over the following weeks and months, treated skin may appear smoother, firmer and more resilient. Results are gradual and vary with the device, treatment settings, anatomy, indication and individual healing response.
The goal is not “more damage.” It is the right stimulus, delivered to the right tissue, at the right depth—with enough recovery time for remodeling to occur.
Treatment must be individualized by a qualified medical professional. Not every device is appropriate for every person or concern.

Treat the tissue—not just the arm. 💪✨
The upper arm is not one uniform treatment area. Skin thickness, fat distribution and proximity to bone can vary between the posterior arm, medial arm, deltoid and elbow.
For safer, more consistent RF microneedling treatment, assess each zone individually:
* Posterior arm: often requires evaluation of skin laxity and pinchable tissue.
* Medial arm: may have thinner tissue and greater sensitivity.
* Deltoid: tissue thickness can differ from the surrounding arm.
* Elbow area: has less soft-tissue coverage and is closer to bone, requiring careful planning.
Treatment parameters—including the tip, needle depth, energy and delivery mode—should be selected according to the patient’s anatomy, tissue thickness, pinchable fat and treatment goals.
With Burst technology, RF energy can be delivered at multiple depths during a single insertion. This can improve efficiency, but it also makes accurate assessment and zone-specific planning essential.
Assess the anatomy. Adjust the settings. Treat each zone intentionally. ✨

A little collaboration on breast cancer, HRT and weight-loss with Dr Terrel 🥰.
Have you ever known deep down that your body was changing and not for the better? The standard lab work said you were fine. I have been there. Around 2012, it started for me and took 11 years to get answers. Slowly the sleeplessness, fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, hair loss and weight gain (55 lbs to be exact) took over. Every year it got worse and every year I was “fine”, “it’s part of aging”, “ your thyroid is fine so it’s not hormones”, “your too young to have hormone problems “ “just stop eating so much and exercise more” You know the lines. If you are 40 or older, I bet you know exactly what I’m talking about. The frustration was overwhelming because life doesn’t stop, the world keeps turning and I had to keep moving forward.
That journey is exactly why I recorded this new episode of The Why. I brought on my very own medical provider, Deanna McAllister (FNP-BC, FAAFM), from Vanished Aesthetics & Wellness. When I first met Deanna, I was so frustrated that I just wanted to jump right onto a GLP-1 medication to lose the weight. But she took a step back to look at the whole picture. She helped me realize we had to heal the gut and address my sleep issues first! In this episode, we get completely real about:
✨ My personal journey through perimenopause, a hysterectomy, and hormone replacement therapy (HRT).
✨ Why we have to look deeper at complex health issues and why gut health and sleep matter so much.
✨ The careful, micro-dosed approach to weight loss medications to protect your muscle mass.
✨ How unexpected environmental factors, like mold toxicity, can actually perfectly mimic perimenopause symptoms.
✨ Why finding a specialist who focuses heavily on hormone health can be a game-changer for your long-term wellness. If you are looking for root-cause answers and want to learn how to advocate for your long-term health, please listen to this one. Your recipe for health is uniquely yours.
