My guests first appointment we focus on learning and education:

-learning the importance of cleansing and Hydrating the hair.

- learning about the texture and density of their hair.

-learning about their personal styling needs and products that fits their life style.

-learning about night time sleep care and how to refresh those curls the next day.

Education, coaching and learning to love your hair is my heart for all my guests and simply providing a safe place to be.

All textures are encourage and all walks of life are welcome in my studio.

The power of defusing your curls.

A few of my personal favorites reasons why defusing is important:

-Creates maximum curl formation

-Bouncier curls 😍

-Volume and movement

-Curly styles will last longer.

-The warmth from the dryer feels lovely in these cold months.

Knowledge is power.

Each one of these ladies approaches their hair with the same understanding of care and results they desire. Each routine is different, custom fitted to that day and what they need at that moment for the style they want.

Gavin that understand can give you a whole new level of confidence and acceptance.

Receiving education about yours curls brings you a sense of discernment with the power to make your own decisions about what you and your curls will needs.

Knowing how and what you need for your curls is better than anything that anyone on one any social media format can tell you.

Being able to carve out time to defuse and dry those curls seems impossible with a family, a job and other commitments. I absolutely get it.

Who has time to dry those curls 💯?!?

The beauty of having natural curly, wavy ,or coily hair is that we can and should allow for our curls to live in whatever state it’s in that day. Yep, I said it. Give yourself a whole lot of grace.

So be it!! Let your hair air dry. Defuse it half way. Wear less products once in a while. Let it be frizzy and less curly for a day. Wear a messy bun. OR go through that full 45min to an hour washing, conditioning, setting and defusing routine.

Understanding how your curls will perform based upon how much time you have to give that day is ok.

The key is knowing what the outcome or end result of each of those approaches on drying your hair will be. Learning and developing your technique; knowing and understand what type of products create what outcome and understanding how your curls will perform with or without defusing will give you a clear understanding on what is achievable in what amount of time.

Craving out time is the most challenging part of learning your curls. I can show you what works best for your life and routine. I do know this time struggle is normal for many of us.

One whole curls worth today. Take off just enough what needs to be cut. 😘

Not necessarily as I had planned or ideally how I wanted the launch of my new website to go but all in all I am thrilled to share it.

Just over a year ago I spent a weekend learning from a couple of different curl specialist at a friend’s salon across the country and it impacted me greatly. It is ALWAYS amazing to surround yourself with individuals who have the same passions and desires to grow. It is amazing to have access to real great teachers and I am thankful for it. Today, I found out that Dom has passed and I am heartbroken of the news. Even though it was just a couple of days together, he has a way with people and I’m grateful I got to learn from him. I’m sad to hear of his passing. I guess that is the magic of some hairstylists. Impactful, impressionable, inspirational, innovated, creative, classy, sassy and a little smart assy. Rest in peace and thank you.

When you spy another curly haired stranger in public and they compliment you on your curls.…isn’t that the BEST?!?! 🫶🏽 It is like you become instant friends,right?!

My hair wasn’t even styled and I had someone behind me in line tell me how healthy my curls looked. Thank you!

They ask what products you use and you tend to oblige.

When my clients share with me this happens for them, it makes my heart happy and then I ask. Did you tell them that your special product is water and getting your hair hydrated?? 😁 I chuckle every time because I know the answer. It’s a lot to explain to someone…Trust me I get it.

The lady in line with me got a whole explanation and my card. 🤣IYKYK

If knowing that the magic of curls comes with consistent and deliberate watering of the hair. If there was the time, how helpful would it be to share that knowledge instead of sharing that “magic product” that they are waiting on and it will never come?? Just a thought.

Because giving them the best advice on products wouldn’t give them results anticipate. What it will give them is continued frustrations with their hair, endless amounts of products they “don’t” like and the cycle of frizzy hair continues.

I encourage you to share about hydrations as much as you can because this knowledge and practice will change the community as a whole. There is only one of me and this ripple effect can continue with you too.
