KHS The Salon
Named Top 20 Salons in the United States
You can’t always control the lighting you’re in, but you can control the colors you wear. And that’s what matters most.
We’re first going to determine whether Miss ND Teen Addison Pringle is warm or cool using our metal test.
Silver = Cool
Gold = Warm
What’s your vote?
We’ll do the big reveal of her season on pageant day (September 6).
In the meantime, join us as we go through all our tests to determine her season.
We use our seasonal results to determine what colors we should formulate for her hair and how we should place them.

So what is a Seasonal Color Analysis?
The color analysis, simply put, tells us which colors you look best in.
Follow us this week as we discover Addison Pringle season and prepare her for the Miss Teen pageant.
The colors in each palette are influenced by the colors you would see in nature during that season.
KHS focuses the analysis on hair color.
We’ve also implemented Munsell’s properties of color, which we take into account for your hair color and placement of hair color.
So this is what we’re looking for 👇🏻
👍🏻Hue = warm or cool
👍🏻Value = light or dark
👍🏻Chroma = intensity, saturation or dullness
We start with the four traditional seasons of Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer.
Autumn and Spring will always be warm. Winter and Summer will always be cool.
But, we can shift the variables of value and chroma, totaling 12 seasons to choose from.
Any guesses of what Miss Teen might be?

Have you met Kyrah Kay Duttenhefer || Bismarck Stylist yet?
Kyrah’s our curly hair specialist at KHS.
Kyrah advices her curly clients to use a diffuser when blow drying their curls.
A diffuser will lesson the airflow while still providing the heat to get the curls dry, which vastly reduces frizz.
Pro Tip for even less frizz on curls when blow drying: Don’t dry the curls 💯

How STUNNING is this transformation by Kyrah Kay Duttenhefer || Bismarck Stylist
Kyrah discovered this client is a Spring. Because she’s a Spring, Kyrah did a dimensional color adding warmth, with color formulations that had a distinction between the highlights and base, and placement between blended and chunky. Kyrah also softened the layers in the asymmetrical cut.
Total Time: 3 hours
Total Cost: $235
At KHS, we have multiple tools to help us determine your season.
One of the tools we utilize is sliders.
We have three different sliders that tell us 👇🏻
👍🏻Do you look better in warm colors or cool colors
👍🏻Do you look better in light colors or dark colors
👍🏻Do you look better in bright, saturated or dull colors
We then use this information to make hair color recommendations.
You also get a card with your seasonal palette to help you make other colors choices.

How FUN is this dark base with green highlights by Addysen Geerdes
This client came in with previous highlights and faded red that she wanted to completely get rid of. She wanted to switch to a dark cool base and add lots of pops of green 💚

It’s time for our fave!
The three cape drop.
In the KHS Color Analysis, we first narrow down your season.
Autumn. Winter. Summer. Spring.
Each season has its nuances, adding two additional capes to each season. KHS utilizes the Munsell-based 12-season analysis.
We determined she’s a Spring. But, is she a True Spring or one of its sub seasons of Soft Spring or Clear Spring?
True Spring looks best in warm, light, clear, but delicate colors.
Soft Spring differs in its more dull and lighter, making it softer.
Clear Spring differs in that it’s brighter and darker, making it more clear.
We’ve determined she’s a Clear Spring! And she’s going to step out of her comfort zone and add some orange to her wardrobe.
Do you know which season you are?
Let’s discover your season at your next hair color appointment!
We’ll then make hair color recommendations and placement based on your seasonal results.
