Introducing Nordlys™ IPL laser hair removal - an advanced, dual-wavelength platform for safe, effective treatment across a broad range of skin tones and hair types.
Nordlys works by delivering targeted pulses of light energy that are absorbed by melanin in the hair follicle. This light converts to heat, damaging the follicle and disabling its ability to regrow hair, while surrounding skin remains protected. Because hair grows in cycles, a series of sessions is needed to target follicles at their most receptive growth stage, resulting in a progressive, lasting reduction in hair density and thickness.
🍂 Fall Promotion: Purchase 2 sessions, receive 1 complimentary. Offer valid through October 31.

It’s back-to-school season! New classes, new routines, new faces, and maybe a little extra stress. One thing you shouldn’t have to worry about? Acne holding you back.
The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) recommends treating acne early. The longer acne lasts, the more likely it is to affect your emotional well-being, and untreated acne can worsen and lead to permanent scarring. Early treatment can help clear the skin, prevent new breakouts, and reduce the emotional distress that can come with acne.
This school year, remember: taking care of your skin is taking care of you.
Our dermatologists can help you find a treatment plan that works for your skin.
Clearer skin. More confidence. A fresh start.

Skin cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in the United States.
Despite widespread awareness of the dangers of ultraviolet radiation and the direct link to skin cancer, tanning remains common. A pilot study conducted at Brown University under Dr. Oliver Wisco's leadership, offers insight into why young adults continue tanning even when they understand many of the risks.

The Base Tan Myth - Cascade Business News (Oliver Wisco) Skin cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in the United States. Did you know that squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is the second most common type of skin cancer? According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), SCC develops in the skin cells that make up most of the skin’s outer layer, called the epidermis. It is often caused by cumulative exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun and commonly develops on areas of the body that receive the most sun exposure. Although SCC is usually treatable when detected early, it can grow deeper into the skin and spread to other parts of the body and become deadly if left untreated.
The good news is that early detection can make a significant difference. According to the AAD, knowing your skin and paying attention to new, changing, or unusual spots, especially rough, scaly patches, sores that do not heal, or wart-like growths, can help you identify potential warning signs sooner. Regular skin self-exams and routine visits with a dermatologist are important steps in protecting your skin health.
Protecting your skin starts with staying informed. Learning the warning signs of skin cancer and encouraging those around you to do the same can support earlier detection and better outcomes. If you have questions or notice a concerning spot, we are here to help.

Did you know that basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of skin cancer? According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), BCC develops when cancer begins in the skin cells found in the deepest layer (basaloid layer) of the epidermis. This skin cancer most often appears on areas of the body that receive the most sun exposure, especially the head and neck. Although BCC tends to grow slowly and rarely spreads to other parts of the body, it can grow deeper into the skin and surrounding tissues and destroy the surrounding area if it is not detected and treated early.
The good news is that early detection can make a significant difference. According to the AAD, becoming familiar with your skin and paying attention to new, changing, or persistent spots, especially sores that do not heal or bumps that continue to grow, can help you identify potential warning signs sooner. Regular skin self-exams and routine visits with a dermatologist are important steps in protecting your skin health.
Take a moment to learn more about your risk and share this information with friends and family. Education and awareness can save lives. We are here to help.
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States, with approximately 9,500 people diagnosed every day. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer by the age of 70, highlighting the importance of routine skin surveillance.
When detected in its earliest stages, skin cancer is highly treatable. For melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, the 5-year survival rate exceeds 99% when the disease is localized. This rate decreases significantly once the cancer has spread, underscoring the importance of early diagnosis through regular skin examinations and prompt evaluation of suspicious lesions.
Dermatologists recommend performing monthly self-skin examinations and scheduling professional skin exams based on your individual risk factors, including a personal or family history of skin cancer, a high number of moles, fair skin, significant ultraviolet (UV) exposure, or a history of blistering sunburns.
If you notice a lesion that is new, changing, non-healing, or meets the ABCDE criteria for melanoma (Asymmetry, Border irregularity, Color variation, Diameter greater than 6 mm, or Evolving), it should be evaluated by a dermatologist.

Skin cancer can show up in ways many people don’t expect, including:
A sore that won’t heal
A rough or scaly patch
A shiny bump
A spot that bleeds, itches, or changes
A dark streak under a nail
Knowing what to look for matters. A quick skin check could help catch skin cancer early, when it’s most treatable!
Use the ABCDEs to check your moles and spots:
A = Asymmetry
B = Border irregularity
C = Color variation
D = Diameter larger than a pencil eraser
E = Evolving or changing over time
If you notice anything new, changing, or unusual, don’t ignore it. Derm Health is here to help you with all your skin needs!
