The museum wants to extend our deepest love and heartfelt support to the families affected by the devastating flooding in Central Texas. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the families of Mary Grace Baker, Aidan Heartfield, Joyce Badon, Ella Cahill, and Reese Manchaca. We stand with you in grief and with unwavering support. Please know you are in our hearts during this challenging time.

NOTE FROM OUR MUSEUM DIRECTOR:
I think all that I am now is because of the things I love, but especially because of this Summer Camp. We send our kids to camps and take our families on vacations to learn, create joyful memories and new friendships, and most of all, to have fun. Hunt, Ingram, the Guadalupe River, and the surrounding areas are a magical place that many travel to for these things - I know I did. I spent 10 years at Camp Mystic as a camper and then a counselor. These were the best memories of my childhood and young adult life. I counted down the days each spring until I could spend my summer at Camp Mystic.

Chris Field said it best for me, “And so now we find ourselves holding our own tender camp memories in one hand while simultaneously grieving for the families and children who are suffering this weekend in the worst way imaginable. We grieve that a magical place so quickly became one of pain, uncertainty, and loss for so many. Lives changed forever. We feel it in our guts because we care. Because it makes us grapple with how little control we have. With how fragile life really is. With how little that we fret and fuss about really matters in the end. This camp was our camp. These kids were our kids. These parents are each one of us.”

To the many families dealing with these tragic and confusing times, we want you to know that we are with you in this difficult time, offering our unwavering support and compassion. While words cannot fully express our sorrow, please feel assured that you are in our hearts, and we are holding you close in spirit. During this challenging period, may you find comfort in knowing that you are not alone, and that our thoughts and cares are with you every step of the way.
