Southern Roots™ began with a question I couldn’t ignore.

What happens when perimenopause, stress, and time leave your skin feeling dry, your scalp flaky, and your hair feeling more brittle than it once did?

Like many women over 40 and 50, I wasn’t chasing perfection. I wanted healthier-looking skin, lasting hydration, and hair that could stop shedding and retain the growth I was working so hard to achieve.

As a cosmetologist, I drew on my decade of salon experience, my love of formulation, and the Southern botanical traditions that have been part of my life since childhood. Ingredients like okra, blueberries, sweet potatoes, and rice weren’t chosen because they were trendy. They were chosen because they were part of my story.

Sharing these photos is honestly a little vulnerable for me.

But I know I’m not the only woman navigating the changes that come with perimenopause. If you’ve been struggling with dry skin, a flaky scalp, brittle hair, or simply feel like your skin and hair aren’t responding the way they once did, I hope this encourages you.

Southern Roots™ is more than a skincare collection. It’s where my family’s traditions, my professional training, and my passion for creating thoughtful products came together.

Most people know me as the founder of Indulgence.
But Indulgence wasn’t the beginning.

Long before I created products, I spent years learning, teaching, studying education and psychology, serving, and building. Every chapter added something to the person I am today.

Looking back, I can see that none of those experiences were wasted. They shaped how I think about beauty, self-care, education, and caring for others.

I wanted to share a little of that journey because the next chapter is one that’s been years in the making.

Soon, I’ll be introducing Southern Roots™, my botanical skincare collection inspired by the traditions that were shared with me, my years as a licensed cosmetologist, and a lifelong love of thoughtful ingredients.
