Ever wonder why barber poles spin? π
Our freshman barber students just wrapped a lesson on the history of barbering, and they drew their own barber poles to go with it!
The pole comes from the early days of bloodletting.
π΅ Blue = the veins
π΄ Red = the blood
βͺ White = the bandages
The pole itself represents the staff clients held to make their veins easier to find, and the basin at the bottom caught the blood. After the procedure, the bandages were hung on the staff to dry, and as they blew in the wind they twisted around it. Thatβs the spinning pole you still see outside barbershops today.
Before you can master the craft, you have to know where it came from!
Every great brow service starts before the first wax strip!
In this walkthrough from Baltimore Beauty & Barber School, our instructor shows cosmetology students the foundation of the service for Stateboard: sanitizing, setting up a clean station, draping the client, and checking the brows to make sure itβs safe to proceed.
Careful habits build confident, professional cosmetologists.

The anatomy of a great haircut. βοΈ
It starts with a consultation β a good cut is never guessed. It starts with listening: lifestyle, hair type, what's actually going to work day-to-day.
Then it's about precision. Sectioning, angle, tension β every detail affects how the cut grows out, not just how it looks today.
That's the difference training makes.
Our students at Baltimore Beauty & Barber School II are trained to think beyond the moment β building cuts that hold up long after you leave the chair.

Meet Chloe!
A little over a month into her journey at BBB I, and Chloe already has nothing but love for the experience. She came in already knowing a few things about hair, but says she's learned so much more in class working with real clients β going beyond ponytails and quick weaves to really level up her braiding and overall skill set.
Chloe actually toured another school first, but after visiting and interviewing at BBB I, she knew right away this was the place for her! π
So proud of you, Chloe β keep going!

Anything but hair πΈππͺ§
Our cosmetology students at BBB I proved that creativity has no limits β flowers, lollipops, beads, traffic signs, yarn, feathers, and paper all transformed into stunning, one-of-a-kind looks.
This is what happens when technical skill meets pure imagination. So proud of every entry!
Meet Easel! π
A student at BBB I who started back in November with limited cutting experience. Since then, he's built real skills β from technique to client consultation to braiding β and says the biggest lesson has been learning to think beyond just the cut. It's about building a skill set that sets you up to compete and grow long-term.
As graduation approaches, Easel's focused on the future β building the structure to grow his career with room to move and improve, without overcharging along the way.
Proud of the growth, Easel β excited to see what's next!
