Tomorrow, we’ll talk about how you can help support our upcoming harvests. Because as much as it feels disingenuous to talk about work while there is an ongoing genocide across Palestine and regions of the world, we have farm partners and labor workers that directly depend on the sale of these harvests for their livelihoods. So as much as we try and focus on wholesale accounts, this year we’ll need you to show up for us. Stay tuned ✌🏽

The price we paid for Independence | my grandmother (nani) and her family were one among many that were on the trains, to make it across from Sargoda, Pakistan to the Indian side of Punjab. All was left behind, except a trunk with pickles and some jewellery, that too, lost and left behind along the way hiding in neighbours attics; nervous breakdowns; starting from scratch; trauma. A mere political agenda created a bloody landscape of massacre and carnage stoked on religious lines. The classic colonial divide and rule with extremist agendas on both sides left unchecked
The cruelty of reflecting back on 76 years of freedom is trying to assimilate why nothing seems to have changed and yet changed all at once. The constant us vs them narratives that seeps into the very fabric of every day life. From who can rent a house, where they can work, who cleans gutters, how safe you feel, where you can eat, what you can say. If anything, this 76th year of Independence feels like a cloak of fear among all our necks on what might just happen next and who it might happen to. And as grim as this sounds, it is the truth.
I see it at the farms, where views are based on what a panchayat/ village leader may believe to be true based on false repetitive voices thrown out by the media. We live in dangerous, delicate times, that’s the truth. When I’m back home in India for months at a time, I tread carefully.
Those of us that feel progress, we are privileged and have been able to mask most of the atrocities we get to talk about on finger tapping apps over the internet.
So I hope, this year we can band together, irrespective of the fears we shroud ourselves in, to try and quell the narratives of the past, the spoken word of angst against the other from uncles and aunties, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers and at the bare minimum show respect to one another, in our actions. For love, there is hope, for another time and another year, I hope.

Dr Sampath’s five layer farm, powered by a symbiotic relationship between livestock, plants, weeds and insects. The earthworm though, is the unsung hero. Working their magic to create an incredible cover to the forest (farm) floor.
-
Our Moringa and Coconut yields on the farm are lesser when compared to conventional farming, as they are interspersed through the farm, not overpowering, creating a beautiful ecosystem in which so much thrives.

Harvest update 🌿Moringa leaves harvest are slowing down in the region as the hot summer months mean the delicate betel leaves (paan leaves) that use the Moringa tree as a support structure will also need the Moringa branches & leaves for shade.
-
In the trees are still quite bare but in a month or so will be ready for harvest depending on weather conditions!
