Carnivore calmed your symptoms. Then one “wrong” food brought them back.

The reaction is information.

Histamine intolerance and MCAS often look alike. Both involve symptoms such as digestive issues, headaches, skin reactions, anxiety, fatigue, and heart palpitations. But they involve different problems.

Histamine intolerance centers on load and clearance. The body takes in or produces more histamine than it breaks down, causing the “histamine bucket” to overflow.

MCAS often centers on activation. Overreactive mast cells release histamine and other inflammatory chemicals too easily, leading to broader and less predictable reactions.

Carnivore reduces several burdens at once. It removes common food triggers, lowers inflammatory input, supports the gut lining, stabilizes blood sugar, and replenishes key nutrients.

That relief matters, but symptom relief is not always the same as full healing.

When symptoms return every time the diet expands, the deeper question is not only, “Which food caused this?”

Ask what is keeping the system reactive.

Possible drivers include:

• Mold or CIRS
• Chronic infections
• Gut dysbiosis
• Toxin exposure
• Nervous-system dysregulation
• Nutrient depletion

Carnivore creates the space needed to heal, but sometimes additional progress requires addressing deeper drivers.

Your symptoms are signals, not always the root cause.

Why the Body May Still Not Heal

Photos from Nutrition with Judy's post 10/04/2026

Why do Lyme symptoms move, flare, or change without warning?

Digestive issues, moving pain, fatigue, sleep problems, and sudden anxiety can feel unrelated. Together, they point to something bigger than the infection alone.

Lyme-related inflammation disrupts nervous-system signaling. This system helps regulate pain, digestion, sleep, energy, and the body’s response to safety and threat.

When that signaling is disrupted:

• Normal sensations feel stronger
• Pain moves throughout the body
• Everyday stressors trigger larger reactions
• The body remains alert even when immediate danger is gone

Symptoms also persist when other biological burdens remain:

• Mold and CIRS
• Gut dysfunction
• Nutrient depletion
• Mitochondrial stress
• Immune dysregulation

Even after major triggers are addressed, the nervous system can remain guarded. Months or years of illness train the body to keep scanning for danger.

This is why recovery requires both root-cause care and nervous-system support.

Root-cause care addresses the biological drivers. Nervous-system support helps rebuild safety, tolerance, and resilience.

Healing is more than treating the infection.

THE MAKING OF INFLAMMATION FIX.

Apparently, writing a book and finishing a book are two very different things.

Our original plan was to launch Inflammation Fix in September. The manuscript had been written. It had gone through rounds and rounds of edits. The layout was nearly finished. I thought we were getting close, but life happens, and we had several required changes.

Then I learned a lesson I will probably never forget. What looks right on a computer screen is not necessarily what comes out of a commercial printing press.

Somewhere in the process of converting our graphics from RGB, which is how colors are displayed on screens, to CMYK, which is used for printing, some of our colors changed. Even colors that looked black wouldn’t necessarily print as the crisp, true black we intended.

It sounds like such a small thing. Change the color and move on, right? Not exactly.

We hadn’t created a book with a handful of generic charts that could all be changed with one click. We had more than 300 individually designed tables and figures, with different layouts, colors, lines, shapes, bullets, and details throughout the book. Fixing the problem meant going back through them one by one, replacing them in the book layout, and then checking everything again because every manual change creates another opportunity for human error.

So there I was, working 70+ hour weeks like an AI robot (not that AI, but Adobe Illustrator) clicking through hundreds of graphics because if we didn’t fix them, the print date would get pushed out even further. I will never look at the letters CMYK the same way again. There were definitely moments when I wondered how making a book had somehow turned into learning about color profiles, printing registration, paper, binding, signatures, Amazon algorithms, international distribution, eBook file sizes, and things called overfill.

None of this was on my list when I first decided I wanted to write about inflammation and root-cause healing. And CMYK was only one of the lessons.

Over the last few years, I’ve learned there is an entire world between having something you want to say and holding the finished book in your hands. I’ve traditionally published. I’ve self-published. I’ve made mistakes with both. I’ve learned things I wish I had known when I wrote Carnivore Cure, changed things I knew I wanted to do differently this time, and probably made an entirely new set of mistakes along the way. I thought it might be fun (and, more importantly, helpful) to take you behind the scenes of some of that process as we get closer to releasing Inflammation Fix. Not because every author should make a book the way we did. I can already tell you there are much easier ways.

What can Lyme make a normal day feel like?

You wake up exhausted despite spending the night in bed. Standing up leaves you dizzy. Meals trigger nausea, bloating, or other reactions. A simple errand causes an energy crash. When bedtime arrives, you feel wired but tired.

These symptoms can appear unrelated, but they reflect a broader pattern.

Lyme does not affect only one part of the body. Infection-related inflammation disrupts systems responsible for energy, digestion, circulation, sleep, stress regulation, and nervous-system signaling.

Other biological burdens also intensify the pattern:

• Mold and CIRS
• Gut dysfunction
• Nutrient depletion
• Mitochondrial stress
• Immune dysregulation
• Nervous-system sensitivity

Addressing each symptom separately misses the connection between them.

Recovery requires identifying the biological drivers while rebuilding the body’s ability to tolerate ordinary activities, meals, stressors, and treatment.

Progress is not limited to the complete disappearance of symptoms. It also looks like waking with more energy, standing without dizziness, tolerating meals, completing errands without crashing, and sleeping without feeling wired.

The goal is not merely getting through the day. It is helping the body regain safety, capacity, and resilience.

Why Trying to Be Happy Can Make You Miserable

09/29/2026

I know what it feels like to believe that life will begin after healing.

When I struggled with disordered eating, my mind was consumed by food, anxiety, depression, and the fear of falling into another cycle. I was not fully present.

I wanted a family, children, meaningful work, and a life where I could be present.

Today, I have that life, and I get to serve. Sure, it still includes difficult days, but I would never trade it for the life I had before.

Motherhood is hard. Serving people who are suffering is hard. As a practitioner, I want to help every person heal, but some outcomes are outside my control.

I would still never trade this life for the one I had before.

Healing did not give me a life without struggle. It gave me the freedom to choose a struggle worth carrying.

If your health journey has become your entire identity, please do not wait for perfect conditions. Treat what matters, rest when needed, and keep taking small steps toward connection, purpose, and joy.

Don't let illness take over your life. Don't make it your identity.
