Tori Amos “Crucify” Top of the Pops, BBC Television Centre, London, June 25, 1992 Tori Amos grew up in a strict Methodist family with a minister for a father and church woven through nearly every part of the week. Amos remembered being told that a woman gave her body to her husband and her soul to God, which made Tori ask what was left for her. Years later, that same argument with guilt, obedience, and religious authority fed directly into “Crucify.” Amos said the song was about what happens when you keep trying to please people whose judgment you have already accepted, whether they are in religion, the music business, or your own life. She wrote “Crucify” in Los Angeles after the collapse of Y Kant Tori Read, when she was trying to work out how much of that failure belonged to the industry and how much belonged to choices she had made herself. Amos remembered watching Tracy Chapman and Melissa Etheridge emerge while being supported as themselves, while she felt she had allowed her own work and image to be turned into something she no longer recognized. “Crucify” came out of that reckoning rather than simply anger at other people. The version released as a single was remixed by Ian Stanley, formerly of Tears for Fears, and Amos performed it on Top of the Pops on June 25, 1992. 10/05/2026

Let's spread this story so people can see the truth about the other side of Christ that has been forgotten. Mary Magdalene was the gift and the key to uniting the Christos within, with the wisdom of Sophia or Mother Earth Thank you and we love you 10/03/2026

«Shape of My Heart».
