Don’t be surprised if I pop out and move to Galicia for a lil🌱🌳❇️

⭐️ Santiago de Compostela ⭐️

I was more than pleased with the home base of our Galicia trip being here. Greenery, parks, and a town that feels energetic 💫

I can see why hundreds of thousands of people walk the Camino de Santiago. A pilgrimage, which takes several weeks of walking to end up here, depending on the route you take.

Seeing the hikers in the square in front of the cathedral as they completed their walk was powerful. Relief, joy, gratitude, and community. People they had met along the way or hiking companions tore off their shoes and sang in the middle of everyone. Pure bliss 🌞

It kind of reminded me of the hiking route I knew from my college days. The Appalachian Trail. A hike through the Appalachian mountains. I’ve only heard stories from both to compare the two, but the point is that people end differently than they began…

That’s to say that the person who begins the journey is not the one who finishes it. A pilgrimage that appears by foot but really they work their way through the mind and the heart it appears.

I’m not sure if this would be my form of pilgrimage, but it’s definitely inspiring. Plus the pilgrimage is marked and represented with a seashell (totally freaking cute) and the whole town has art, jewelry, souvenirs galore to help people remember the journey they completed.

Fascinanted is an understatement.

Anyone out there hiked either one? Or both? Id love opinions.

I don’t have advice on what i liked and didn’t liked, all i know is that you should just give yourself space to wander here… no itinerary needed 💛

also how is that first shot so damn cool?!? I swear there’s something literally in the water here…..

⭐️3 things for a quick check in with u⭐️

1. It’s 4th of July and ngl I woke up wanting a burnt hot dog with ketchup + mustard

2. Although my favorite hobby is looking cute and having Kyle take photos of me - these are simply photos and fun times 💛 There’s plenty of other not so aesthetic fun times in the mix as well (if you’re in my stories you know I’ve been complaining about not having AC here is Lisbon 🥲)

3. Kyle and I still have our visa to live in Spain but for the next 3 months we are doing a lil Euro adventure together. We are calling this our honey moon 👰🏽🤵🏼+ need to escape the heat of Sevilla…which we learned was the hottest city is Europe 🫦.

Sometimes you need to just pull the damn trigger, no time for what ifs!!!!

It’s going to be so odd to not be in a routine of school everyday. Reminds me how I felt after I graduated during Covid…what now with all the time?

But I would highly recommend this school is Sevilla to anyone seeking a Spanish school, they even offer help with visa stuff too!

Adopting new culture has me constantly circling the drain on how I perceive life itself (not to be dramatic but fr). Learning Spanish in classes makes me see how my language shapes how I see the world. How do I engage with the world…what considers you close to someone?

Everyday my brain is tickled. I even tried to write poetry in Spanish…but that’s for a different post 🙂‍↕️

I picked up this flower on our walk to collect our residency cards and it felt an omen. Puerto Rico, Hawaii, islands that have shaped me 💭🐬🫶🏽

a texas winter has been good for my soul

I’ve never gardened before (I’m a simple house plant mother) but there was something that changed within me. More child like joy simply getting dirty and planting seeds and flowers alike. Bringing more visions to life, little by little🦋🕊️

Thank you to my ancestors, my abuelas, and all the women in my life who have brought me to this very place in life. I am grateful 💌
