Do you color your locs? It’s fine, Just Color Them Wisely.

1. Healthy locs can absolutely be colored.
The key is maintaining the health of the hair before, during, and after the coloring process.

2. Wait 2-3 years between major color services whenever possible. This gives your locs time to develop a strong, mature foundation before undergoing another chemical process.

3. Color-treated hair is naturally more fragile. Hair that has been lightened or permanently colored loses some of its strength and will generally break more asilv than untreated hair it not cared TO properly.

4. Hydration is not optional—it’s essential.
Colored ends need more moisture than virgin hair. Keep them nourished with lightweight loc elixirs and regular hydration.

5. Mist your locs frequently with distilled water. Distilled water provides moisture without adding minerals that can contribute to buildup.

6. Seal in moisture. After misting the colored ends, apply a lightweight loc elixir or botanical oil blend to help retain hydration and improve flexibility.

6. Protect your ends. The oldest part of your loc is also the most delicate. Colored ends deserve extra care to help reduce dryness and breakage.

7. Maintain a healthy retightening schedule.
Strong roots and healthy new growth help support the weight of color-treated locs over time.
