WHAT’S IT WEDNESDAY 💙💜

Blue shampoo or purple shampoo… which one does your hair actually need?

Here’s how I always remember it:

💜💛 EASTER = PURPLE + YELLOW

Purple shampoo helps neutralize YELLOW tones.

Think blondes, highlights, silver or gray hair that starts looking a little too yellow or golden.

💙🧡 DENVER BRONCOS = BLUE + ORANGE

Blue shampoo helps neutralize ORANGE tones.

And being a Denver hairstylist, this one is pretty hard to forget. 😂

Think brunettes, darker blondes and dimensional color that starts pulling a little too orange as it fades.

It’s all COLOR THEORY. 🎨

Purple sits opposite yellow on the color wheel, so purple helps neutralize yellow.

Blue sits opposite orange, so blue helps neutralize orange.

But remember, not every blonde needs purple shampoo and not every brunette needs blue shampoo.

Warmth isn’t automatically bad! If we’re trying to keep your hair golden, coppery or a rich warm brunette, we don’t necessarily want to neutralize those tones.

And more is not better. Toning shampoo isn’t necessarily something you need every wash. Using too much can leave your hair feeling dry or make your color look dull or muddy.

So now I want to know…
