BREAKING NEWS: GRAVITY DOESN’T CARE WHICH WAY YOU APPLY YOUR MOISTURIZER.

Somewhere along the way, the beauty industry convinced everyone that rubbing moisturizer downward would eventually drag their face to their knees.

But does science actually support that?

NOPE. And here’s where it gets interesting.

LET’S TALK BIOMECHANICS.

Your skin isn’t a piece of fabric that permanently stretches every time you pull it.

It’s a living, viscoelastic tissue supported by collagen, elastin, and an extracellular matrix.

That means your skin can temporarily deform under pressure and return toward its original shape.

Now, can mechanical stress affect skin? ABSOLUTELY. Scientists call the process mechanotransduction, where cells respond to physical forces.

But here’s the catch…

There is NO convincing clinical evidence that gently applying moisturizer downward causes collagen breakdown, wrinkles, or sagging.

And there’s no convincing evidence that rubbing it upward prevents them, either.

SO WHAT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING WHEN YOUR FACE STARTS TO SAG?

Your collagen becomes less abundant and structurally altered.

Your elastic fibers lose their ability to recoil.

Facial fat compartments change.

Even the underlying bone structure remodels with age.

Add years of UV exposure, and you’ve got a much more scientifically accurate explanation for facial aging.

Not the direction you applied your $80 serum. šŸ’€

THE VERDICT:

Apply your skincare UP. Apply it DOWN. Apply it SIDEWAYS.

Just be gentle and avoid unnecessary friction.

Want to actually influence how your skin ages?

Wear your SPF.

Use evidence-based ingredients like retinoids.

Protect your skin barrier.

And please stop thinking gravity is waiting for you to apply your moisturizer incorrectly.

Your collagen has bigger problems than the direction of your hands.

Why are we stopping skincare at the neck?

This is the leg of a 60-year-old client immediately after microneedling the front portion of her leg. (Swipe to see her first appointment consultation photo before we had started treatments)

As we age, we naturally lose collagen and elastin—the structural support that helps keep our skin thick, firm, and resilient. On the legs, that loss can show up as thinner, crepey skin and increasing laxity.

Microneedling creates thousands of controlled microscopic injuries in the skin. Those tiny injuries trigger the body’s natural wound-healing response, activating fibroblasts—the cells responsible for producing and remodeling collagen, elastin, and the extracellular matrix that supports our skin.

Think of collagen as the scaffolding underneath your skin.

As that scaffolding becomes weaker with age, the skin above it has less structural support. By stimulating collagen remodeling, we’re encouraging the dermis to rebuild and strengthen that framework from within.

Over a series of treatments, this can help mature skin become firmer, thicker, smoother and less crepey, improving the appearance of laxity and overall skin quality.

And collagen remodeling doesn’t end when your appointment does. The rebuilding process continues for weeks to months after treatment.

We put so much effort into keeping our faces healthy and youthful. Sooooo, I ask again, why stop at the neck?

Every person who walks through my door is treated with a full-body approach.

Your skin doesn’t exist separately from the rest of you. It can reflect what’s happening internally, which is why I believe truly effective skin treatments start with looking at the bigger picture—not simply treating what we see on the surface.

I began my career specializing in acne, and over the years my work has evolved heavily into scar revision and advanced corrective treatments. These days, you’ll find me microneedling acne scars and stretch marks, performing full-back chemical peels, and continually developing new ways to improve the texture, tone, and integrity of the skin.

One of my latest areas of focus has been skin tightening and remodeling on the arms and legs—combining microneedling with PDRN and finishing with DMK Body Enzyme Therapy to take a truly comprehensive approach to the tissue.

When you come in for a consultation, we’re going to talk about all of it. What bothers you. What you’ve tried. Your skin history. Your lifestyle. Your goals.

There is no standard protocol here because there is no standard client.

We’ll break down the science, build a plan specifically for you, and work toward getting your skin where you want it to be.

Face, body, acne, scars, texture, aging—I want you to bring me the things you thought you just had to live with.

That’s where my work gets interesting. šŸ¤

Was going through my camera roll and came across these two photos taken about a year apart. 🄹

In the first photo, we were struggling with constant breakouts. She was using way too many exfoliating products and not nearly enough hydration, and her skin barrier needed some serious love.

Fast-forward to the second photo ✨ We simplified her routine, switched her over to hydrating, barrier-supporting products, and stayed consistent with treatments—and the progress speaks for itself.

And of course, we had to finish everything off with a brow shape + tint. A little lip filler to give her some nice facial balancing (not done by me ) sometimes the smallest enhancements make the biggest difference. Life was brought back to her face.

My favorite thing is take a photo after I’ve cleansed and before I’ve applied anything onto the skin. It really shows the natural progression of there treatments. Watching the life come back into her skin has been one of my favorite transformations. šŸ¤

I want you to really look at the difference between these two photos—especially the hollowness in the first photo compared to the fullness and bounce in the second.

That fullness isn’t filler. That’s her own skin rebuilding and regenerating .

We’re not just treating what you see on the surface—we’re encouraging the skin to become stronger, thicker, healthier, and more supported from within.

Now THAT is some beautiful collagen remodeling.

I call this the power move. It starts with corrective , which creates controlled microchannels in the skin to stimulate collagen and support improvements in acne scarring, texture, enlarged pores, fine lines, and firmness.

I then pair it with DMK Enzyme Therapy because this is often what’s missing from a corrective treatment plan. The enzyme works with your body’s lymphatic system to support circulation, encourage lymphatic drainage, and help move fluid and waste away from the treated area. It also supports the skin’s natural processes as it works to repair and renew itself.

Microneedling creates tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin, triggering your natural healing response and stimulating collagen + elastin production.

What to expect after:

šŸ¤ Immediately: Red, warm, and similar to a mild sunburn
šŸ¤ Days 1–2: Redness fades; skin may feel tight or sensitive
šŸ¤ Days 3–5: Dryness or light flaking may occur
šŸ¤ Days 5–7: Skin starts looking smoother, brighter, and more refreshed

And collagen remodeling continues for weeks to months after your treatment. ✨
