Life had been lifing! 🥹

However, I would like to share this flyer to bring awareness to a rare disease that has touched my life in a very personal way. Although this flyer is targeted towards barbers, we ask that you considered donating to this worthy cause.

A young man came into my life a few months ago who had a rare condition called NF1 (neurofibromatosis type 1). NF1 is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to develop along nerves throughout the body, some of which can become cancerous. Although he was in my life for a short period of time, I will never, ever forget him, his spirit, his courage, motivation, strong will, positive attitude, and firm belief in a higher power.

I was honored to provide this young man with a haircut after he began to lose his hair and while he had a shunt on his scalp. He was very happy with the haircut he received.

Later, he came in once his hair was just about gone to have his head shaved (with a trimmer), just like his father.

What a day that was! The smile on his face as he said, “I look just like my dad!” His father came in that day, too. He could see that his son did indeed look like him. (Services provided were free, of course.)

This young man lived a few months longer, and then he went home to be with his Heavenly Father.

I attended the funeral, and what a homegoing it was! As I looked around, I saw so many people whose lives he had touched and moved with his winning personality and strong will as he fought cancer.

His mother, determined not to see another child struggle and have to fight for their life while living with this rare disease, created a foundation.

That organization is called Live Like Elias Foundation, Inc. It is a nonprofit organization that accepts donations from individuals and businesses.

All In Luxe Cuts has donated to this organization in memory of Elias and to support efforts to educate people about this rare disease and help find a cure.

Female barbers have been around for hundreds of years going back to the 17th century in France (look her up: Mme. La Brosse).

Dianna Freeman has been a barber for 55 years. She stated that her father was a barber. To continue the tradition, her daughter and granddaughter are barbers.

This article is a great read. Female barbers are a part of Barbering History. I can only hope that one day we get the respect and acceptance we deserve.

Perhaps my legacy will be to have a granddaughter to carry on my business. 🥰. Grandma can't wait to see and hold you Maiella Hope Gillis.

Beloved Greenville barber continues to cut generations of families’ hair after 56 years 75-year-old Dianna Freeman has been wielding scissors across Greenville for 56 years.

In order to support supplies provide for this event personal grooming services are being offered as "pay what you can haircuts".

We are just a few weeks away from our summer event and we hope you've got it on your calendar.

Come on out to The HOPE Initiative: Summer Edition on August 15th from 11am-2pm.

Here's what to expect:
Roots with Purpose will be serving a pasta meal plus will have their walk-in pantry open.
Sowing Seeds NC, Inc. will have their pantry open with a variety of foods for families.
Holly Creek Creamery, LLC will be serving up some cold treats!
Advance Community Health will be serving our community with free medical screenings and information.
BF Food Pantry, NC Disaster Relief - RDU, The Benedix Foundation will be on-site sharing free clothing, food and other household items. Variety depends on what's available.
All In Luxe Cuts, LLC will be on-site providing free haircuts.
Care and Share will be on-site as well!

*Don't forget that we'll have several organizations providing free school supplies as well. Make sure to bring the kids! This is a family-focused event!
