A short story that has absolutely nothing to do with meat…

My Grandma Ebensberger — Luella — was a tiny little German woman, all 85 pounds of her, who hated dirt, cussed like a sailor and apparently believed the 25 mph speed limit was merely a suggestion (which explains my driving habits).

She worked evenings at my dad’s medical clinic, which meant she’d often head home around 10pm. The town cop knew better than to stop her as she flew down the back roads of Greene, IA, kicking up a cloud of dust behind her and probably not wearing a seatbelt.

She smoked, and one of my favorite memories is riding sh***un in her big ol’ Buick — windows down, Grandma smoking her cigarette while I proudly puffed away on my candy cigarette right beside her.

So when I found candy ci******es online, I had to buy them and of course they made it in to a social media session.🚬

Because sometimes something as silly as a candy cigarette can take you right back to the 90’s — windows down, Grandma beside you, and not a care in the world. I also think she’d shake her head at this photo and that makes me happy. 🤣

Busy morning with a sunrise run to Story City Locker to get our latest beef harvest! This beef was raised on the Boyer Family Farms … or as you likely know them as Harvest Barn Marketplace

It’s still in the packaging but I can guarantee you it’s delicious. And this weather is begging you to fire up the grill!
