I’ve been looking through years of old photos and videos lately.

Skylight. Glossed. So many stylists. So many different seasons.

Some are still beside me. Some went on to build something completely separate from me. Some I still talk to, and some I haven’t talked to in years.

I used to think being a good leader meant creating a place people never wanted to leave.

I don’t think that anymore.

Sometimes you teach someone, challenge them, believe in them, love them, make mistakes with them — and eventually their growth takes them somewhere else.

And sometimes the leaving isn’t pretty.

Maybe they were unhappy with me. Maybe I was unhappy with them. Maybe we both needed something different. I can look back and see places where I could have led better too.

But time has a beautiful way of letting the good become louder than the bad.

Now I look around and see stylists who once stood beside me still behind the chair. Still creating. Still growing. Still building beautiful careers.

And for one little season of their story, I got to be part of that.

I love this 🤍

Because they were part of building me too.

Every stylist who has walked through Skylight or Glossed has taught me something and made me a better leader for the next person.

I hope they can look back and remember a season where they felt seen, supported, believed in and loved — even if that isn’t where our story ended.

Maybe leadership isn’t about how many people you can get to stay.

Maybe it’s about how people grow while your paths cross.

Real leaders build more leaders.

And getting to watch them become who they were meant to become — even from a distance — is one of my favorite parts of this journey. 🤍

My Davines Curly Girl Routine 🤍

I’ve learned that with my curls, it’s all about moisture, weight, and strategic hold. I actually don’t love my curls on day one — they tend to feel smaller and thinner — so my routine is all about getting them to that soft, full, lived-in place I love.

1. LOVE Curl Enhancing CoWash
I like to get my hair wet every day to refresh my curls. I use the CoWash so my scalp and hair feel fresh without doing a full shampoo every day. I also love the little bit of weight it gives my curls.

2. LOVE Curl Conditioner
After I CoWash, I add a little conditioner for extra moisture. My curls can pretty much never have enough moisture.

3. LOVE Curl Hair Mask
About every three days, I actually shampoo with LOVE Curl Shampoo and follow it with the mask instead of my regular conditioner. This is my deeper moisture day.

4. LOVE Curl Cream
This goes EVERYWHERE. Scalp to ends, every day. It gives me the softness, moisture and definition I want without making my curls feel too stiff.

5. Curl Gel Oil
This is where I get strategic. I use it on the areas where I want a little more hold and volume — especially my crown and around my front hairline. I don’t necessarily need that hold everywhere.

6. This Is A Curl Building Serum/Cream
I concentrate this on my ends for even more moisture and softness. Because if you haven’t figured it out yet… for my curls, it’s all about the moisture.

The biggest thing I’ve learned from wearing my natural texture is that there really isn’t one “correct” curly routine. I’ve figured out what makes my curls look and feel the way I like them — soft, moisturized, full and a little lived-in. 🤍

And yes, I really do wet my hair every day. Curly girls, don’t come for me.

Some might say I have a type…

And they’d probably be right.

Soft, dimensional dark blondes, warm, rich ribbons of light, lived-in color that grows out beautifully, movement, shine, and healthy hair.

That’s the kind of beauty I’ll never get tired of creating.

Christina only comes in once a year for highlights, with a gloss and haircut every 3 months to keep everything fresh in between.

We kept this color soft, dimensional, and low maintenance, adding just a little extra brightness around her face for that effortless glow.

The best part? This will grow out beautifully. 🤍

I have naturally curly hair, and one of my favorite conversations to have behind the chair is encouraging people to embrace the texture they were born with.

Here in Texas, humidity usually wins. 😂 Instead of spending every day fighting your curls, what if you learned how to love them?

But… that doesn’t mean you have to wear them the same way all the time.

There’s something so fun about a fresh, bouncy blowout. Sometimes it’s not about changing who you are—it’s about changing your mood. A great blowout just feels good for the spirit.

So here’s my philosophy:

🤍Learn how to care for them.
🤍Wear them proudly.
🤍And every now and then, treat yourself to a beautiful blowout just because it’s fun.

Hair doesn’t have to be an either/or. It gets to be both.

Helping women discover how to love their natural texture and giving them the freedom to switch it up is one of my favorite parts of what I do.
