Our Mindful Market is back for a 5th time! ๐Ÿ‚๐ŸŽ‰

We organize these events as community celebrations, with our fall market kicking off the holiday market season. Music, quality goods, free community-oriented activities, and the most pleasant crowd always make for a truly lovely day! This time around we will:

๐Ÿ‚ Host a variety of talented local makers who are value-aligned with People & Planet Refill, PBC and perfect for unique gifts and useful treasures

๐Ÿ‚ Lead a community craft station, suitable for both adults and children

๐Ÿ‚ Mix things up with a different kind of swap: household goods / re-giftable things! As always, we ask that items be in clean and good, usable condition. Please limit your contributions to what an individual can carry at one time.

Vendors and attendees alike tell us all year how much they love these markets. So if you haven't been to one yet, we hope you can be a part of this one! Mark your calendars for Sunday, November 8th, 10AM - 2PM.

It's costume swap time! โ™ป๏ธ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿช„๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ

Coming up quick -- Sunday, 9/27, come between 10:30 - 2:30 to swap costumes & accessories at the shop (3211 Silver Ave SE).

As with most of our "swap" events, this is free to participate and you don't actually have to bring something to take something. You also don't have to take anything if you bring something ... You can totally just use this as an excuse to tidy up your costume stash.

All ages & sizes are welcome; however, please ensure items are kid-appropriate for looking through. Items must be *clean* and in *good, ready-to-use condition*. Dog costumes are welcome, too!

Have items to contribute before the event? You may drop them off any day, during open hours, through 2pm 9/27.

Liz is just cheesin' up a storm because she looks and feels SO GOOD wearing Axiology cherry lip-to-lid balmie ๐Ÿ’„๐Ÿ‘„๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ

We keep a running list of customer requests and we've been hearing your calls for โœจmoreโœจ clean beauty! These 3-in-1 zero waste makeup crayons and highlighters from Axiology are super easy to use, vegan, cruelty-free, and made with simple and clean ingredients that nourish and hydrate your skin. While they're new to us, they came highly recommended from other refill stores and we love them so far.

Catch these multi use crayons in our beauty section, on the same shelf as dryland wilds botanical lip tints (which can also be used for cheeks!) and Zerra & Co. | Zero Waste Makeup & Skincare refillable mascara, eyeliner, and ultra moisturizing petroleum-free jelly. We also have a display of Axiology's foundation colors to collect votes on if/which to bring in. Looking forward to seeing what y'all think!

Last minute swap THIS Sunday outside .planet.refill (3211 Silver Ave SE) โ™ป๏ธโ™ป๏ธโ™ป๏ธ

Back To School time is upon us, so let's circulate the stuff we no longer use in community...and hopefully find some things your kid needs to prep for the upcoming school year, too.

This swap is for good condition school supplies and school-age clothing. Some ideas (but not limited to these items!):
โœ๏ธ Pens, pencils, markers, highlighters, etc
๐Ÿ–‡๏ธGlue, paperclips
๐Ÿ“Rulers, calculators
๐Ÿ““Paper, notebooks, folders, binders
๐ŸŽ’ Backpacks, lunch bags
๐Ÿ‘•School-appropriate clothing

As always, swaps are free to participate in & you don't have to bring anything to take something. This outdoor event will run 10-1 because it's going to get pretty hot by the afternoon ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Items left over will be donated. Please let us know if you are a teacher in need of specific supplies for your classroom!

IT'S FINALLY BACK!!!
All Good mineral sport sunscreen lotion, SPF 30 โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿฅณ

All Good was out of the bulk sunscreen since May 2025, and we were told this was a limited batch...so what we just received is possibly all we'll be able to get for this year.

We will continue carrying the Aloe Up SPF 33 & SPF 50, for those who prefer higher SPF and to ensure continued availability of sun protection through the whole summer. The Aloe Up does, however, have (light) added fragrance -- so if you prefer unscented, the All Good is the way to go!

Thanks so much for your patience with this one. Enjoy the sun safely ๐Ÿ˜Š

The FY27 CABQ budget process is wrapping up, with final approval expected at Mondayโ€™s council meeting. One cut reduces curbside recycling pickup to every other week.

While we encouraged residents to share disappointment with this change, it is clear that a rate increase โ€” even a modest one โ€” will not be considered to retain weekly service. The reality is that budgeting involves difficult tradeoffs, this is not the only less-than-ideal change, & recycling inefficiencies deserve more public discussion. We do not expect any discussion on this item tomorrow.

While disappointing, we hope this leads to broader conversations about creating a waste system that is both fiscally and environmentally sustainable. If you already signed up to comment, this may be a good opportunity to:

โžก๏ธ Thank councilors for protecting transit & city employee pay
โžก๏ธ Encourage long-term budget stability & waste system improvement solutions, such as a broader service rate overhaul or single-use paper bag fees
โžก๏ธ Advocate for efforts to reduce recycling contamination
โžก๏ธ Call for continued discussion to ensure larger households are not disproportionately impacted, such as access to extra carts

So, whatโ€™s with these photos? Theyโ€™re from a tour of one of the cityโ€™s contracted recycling facilities. The 2nd and 3rd photos show a massive pile of contaminated (non-recyclable) material sorted out to be sent to landfill โ€” roughly 15x30x50 feet and constantly growing. At that time, ABQโ€™s contamination rate was 34%, the highest of municipalities served ๐Ÿ˜ญ (for comparison, Los Alamos was ~17%). This is a significant issue the city has not prioritized.

We donโ€™t hold onto hope for cool new programs like curbside composting anytime soon. But we do hope this moment sparks broader conversations about improving waste systems overall ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

On Wednesdays, we wear masks ๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿฉท

While our team is asked to mask up when you do, we haven't required customers to wear masks for a few years. However, we do have a fair number of folks in the community who either require masked spaces for their health/disability or who otherwise feel more comfortable in a masked space.

With our expanded hours, which aim to make refilling more accessible, we're setting aside 1 full day for masked up shopping: every Wednesday, ALL customers are asked to put on a mask before entering.

You can bring your own (reusable cloth or otherwise) or we'll have some available if you don't have one on you. They don't need to be pink ๐Ÿ˜‰ but they do need to be worn properly and cover both your nose & mouth โœ…

Doesn't resonate with you? That's ok. We're open daily, with 6/7 days allowing you to choose whether or not to wear a mask.

Can't make it Wednesdays but prefer masks? Our team will still be asked to put a mask on if you come in wearing one, no matter the day of the week, and we'll still offer the option of online order pickup or curbside service for those who can't enter when unmasked customers are present.

This Wednesday*, we're celebrating Earth Day and our 4th anniversary with something very exciting: expanding our hours to being OPEN DAILY! ๐Ÿฅณ๐ŸŒ

Starting this Wednesday, 4/22, you can come reduce, reuse, and refill 7 days/week, 10AM - 4:30PM.

Gone are the days of running out of laundry detergent only to realize you can't refill until later in the week ๐Ÿ˜…

Hello ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿผ to hours available for those with non-traditional work schedules (we resonate with the struggle of so many ABQ businesses being closed Monday through Wednesday)!

*Please note: on Wednesdays, wearing masks ๐Ÿ˜ท will be required for all shop visitors.

We hope these changes make refilling more accessible & look forward to seeing you on these expanded days!
