Here at the Ash House there is something better than any of our products that we offer and that is authenticity.

Authentic in products: everything we say we make, we make. We do not have white label companies making things for us. If it says the Ash House, it’s made here.

Authentic in practice: we never have pretended to be a zero-waste shop or perfect in recycling etc. Small things like being able to refill your hand soap and laundry detergent, or offering non-packaged soaps are small steps to help reduce waste.

Authentic in community relations: our donations go only to what we believe in and we will never donate anything to something against our political/social/religious beliefs just because it would bring us exposure.

Authentic in social media: our socials are strictly non-paid ads and rely solely on word of mouth and friends sharing what they love! Also, we refuse AI and every photograph is real. In Canva, only non-AI tools are used if we can help it. See that s**tty background photo? That is just a regular shot of our desk on a Monday morning and all its chaos.

Some of these things certainly cost us money. But we’re not here to be millionaires. We’re here to make good soap & candles and to have a space where we can use less packaging, to form bonds with all of you, and to create a space of fun shopping in Akron. 🖤

Queen of the Soap Castle…previously a Halloween princess, punk rock teenager, prep cook/line cook/kitchen manager/meat cutter/meat manager, full time secondhand clothing online seller when I quit the regular workforce to stay home with the youngest.
