A little update on what your massage therapist has been up to… 🇪🇸🥾❤️

I recently came home from Spain with a lot more than sore calves, a camera roll full of beautiful places, and another certificate to hang on the wall!

This trip combined two things I love deeply: learning about the human body and challenging my own.

I began in Madrid, traveled by train to León, and spent two days in classroom study as part of 21 continuing education hours in Trauma Informed Practices: The Science and Social Aspects.

Then we took the classroom to the Camino.

For the next six days, I walked approximately 110 kilometers of the Camino de Santiago, eventually making my way into Santiago de Compostela. Along the way, our instructor gave us daily reflection questions connected to what we had been studying. We carried those questions with us on the trail, had miles to think and reflect, and shared our observations and experiences back with her.

And somewhere between the classroom, the mountains, the rocky trails, the tiny Spanish villages and all those miles on my own two feet, so much of what I’ve learned throughout my career came together in a different way.

The longer I do this work, the more I understand that we aren’t just treating muscles. We’re working with a whole human being and a nervous system.

Pain. Guarding. Breath. Stress. Movement. Safety. Touch. Connection.

They all matter.

Sometimes we can chase a tight muscle over and over again, but if the nervous system still believes it needs to protect that area, the body will keep guarding.

Sometimes the nervous system has to experience change before the muscles are willing to change.

That is one of the things that fascinates me most about this work.

And then I got to experience some of it from the other side.

I asked my own body to carry me roughly 110 kilometers over six days through long days, elevation, rocky terrain and some pretty serious climbs. I watched it adapt. I learned when to push, when to slow down, and when to trust what my body was telling me.

And those yellow Camino arrows eventually led me into Santiago de Compostela, where I visited the Cathedral and tomb of the Apostle Santiago and received this beautiful document commemorating my pilgrimage. ❤️

So I came home with 21 new CE hours, and a much deeper appreciation for the intelligence and resilience of the human body.

I’m still letting everything I learned settle before deciding exactly how some of these trauma-informed and somatic principles may eventually find their way into my practice. I don’t want this to simply become another “technique” on a service menu. I want to integrate what I’ve learned thoughtfully and within the work I already do.

But I do know one thing:

I came home a different therapist than the one who left.

Still learning.
Still curious.
Still listening to the body.

And perhaps even more certain of something I’ve been saying for a while now:

I’m not just in the muscle business.
I’m in the nervous system business.

What an incredible way to earn 21 continuing education hours. 🇪🇸🥾❤️

Grief doesn’t just live in the heart. It settles into the shoulders, jaw, breath, stomach, and nervous system.

Massage can’t erase loss, but it can offer a safe space for the body to soften, exhale, and remember what calm feels like.

Healing isn’t about forgetting, it’s about finding moments where your body no longer has to carry everything alone. 🖤

✨ A little Bountiful Bodyworks housekeeping…

First, thank you. 🫶🏼

Because of your continued trust and referrals, I’m currently booked through August 18th. That kind of growth isn’t something I take for granted. Every appointment, every recommendation, and every kind word has helped Bountiful Bodyworks continue to grow, and I’m incredibly grateful!

As the schedule continues to fill, I encourage everyone to book your next appointment before you leave or reserve your session several weeks in advance. This is especially important if you need after-work hours or have a preferred day of the week.

A friendly reminder regarding my cancellation policy:
• Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice will incur a 50% cancellation fee.
• Cancellations the same business day as your appointment will be charged 100% of the scheduled session.

These policies help protect the time I’ve reserved specifically for you and allow me to continue serving my clients well.

Thank you for supporting this small business, for trusting me with your health, and for allowing me to do work that I truly love. I appreciate each and every one of you! ✨💛
