YOUR BODY IS ALWAYS RECEIVING INFORMATION
The sounds around you
The temperature of the room
The people you're around
Your environment
Even your own thoughts and emotions
Your internal wiring system (nervous system) is constantly taking in this information and deciding:
"Am I safe?"
Massage is another form of information that you receive
Through intentional, gentle touch, I am giving your body sensory input that can encourage relaxation, awareness, and a s***t toward a more regulated state. Sometimes the body doesn't need more stimulation.
It needs safe information
And that can be the beginning of coming back toward balance and homeostasis

Touch is more than something that feels good.
It is one of the ways your body receives information about safety, connection, and what is happening within you.
Gentle, intentional touch can communicate with the nervous system in a way that doesn’t require words. It gives the body an opportunity to slow down, soften, and become more aware of what it has been holding.
Your skin is constantly sensing, responding, and communicating with your brain.
Sometimes, the body understands through touch before the mind has words for it.
That’s the beauty of how I approach my Somatic Bodywork

So what may receiving this kind of bodywork feel like?

Love notes 💌 from a few clients after experiencing somatic integration within their traditional massage session

Let's start from the beginning with a question I've been getting asked lately.....
"What does somatic bodywork even mean?"
Simply put, somatic means "of the body."
Somatic bodywork is about paying attention to what your body is feeling, sensing, and communicating. It's not just about where something hurts. There's more to why you may feel that discomfort in your shoulder, lower back, jaw, neck, etc
Instead of me forcing your body to "release", we slow down together, listen, and create a sense of safety so your body can respond in its own way.
Less forcing
More listening
More connection with your body
That's somatic bodywork

Over the last two days I took my first somatic bodywork class, and it gave me a completely different perspective on what I do as a licensed massage therapist.
One of the biggest things I learned is that creating a safe experience for the body can be just as important as creating physical change.
We’re so used to thinking that effective bodywork has to be deep, intense, or even a little uncomfortable to “work.” But this type of work has shown me that change can happen through something much gentler.
Our bodies are constantly responding to everything we experience—stress, emotions, movement, pain, safety, connection, and the environment around us. When the electrical wiring within us doesn’t have an opportunity to fully process or complete a response, we can sometimes continue to experience tension, guarding, or discomfort long after the original stressor has passed. Trust me, I know that feeling too well, especially after what I experienced back in April.
Instead of forcing the body to release through the traditional massage we are all accustomed to, I learned how to create enough safety and awareness for your body to recognize that it may not need to hold on so tightly anymore.
And that means sometimes the most meaningful work isn’t the deepest pressure.
Sometimes it’s barely a touch.
Sometimes it’s slowing down.
Sometimes it’s listening.
Sometimes it’s giving the body the opportunity to complete what it has been trying to do all along.
This class was the beginning of a new chapter for me, and I’m excited to continue learning how to help people feel safe enough in their bodies to let go.

Because your massage isn’t just about muscles—it’s about creating an environment where your whole body can relax, restore, and reset.
I love incorporating red light therapy into sessions as a gentle way to complement bodywork and support relaxation, circulation, and recovery.
Your massage should leave you feeling different—not just less tense.

Something new is coming to Skylight this fall…
Healing isn’t always about working deeper. Sometimes it’s about helping your body feel safe enough to let go.
This fall, I’ll be introducing Somatic Massage—a gentle, nervous system-focused approach designed to help release chronic tension, calm the mind, and reconnect you with your body.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re carrying stress that stretching, workouts, or even traditional massage hasn’t fully resolved… this may be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
More details are coming soon, including what to expect and how this experience is different.
Stay tuned… your nervous system deserves this.
