Hold your own reading tent

Create a reading tent for the people who live in your village, town or city. Hold
events or special activities in your tent and ask people who come along to give a
donation to Book Aid International. You will be helping to raise awareness and
to change lives through books. In your reading tent you could hold poetry readings,
mount an art exhibition, host a book sale, sell African inspired jewellery, provide
snacks and drinks or hold your own reading group!

Sun-Rays Associates Limited was started in December 2010 to enhance reading and writing and provide development education support in schools and communities in Uganda. Sun-Rays is dedicated to enhancing literature and reading through creative reading and learning.

In January 2011 Sub-Rays organized a reading activity at Buganda Road Primary School where parents brought their children. There were children of different age groups who were very interested in the books and had fun while participating in the different activities that included reading and writing.

This event was mainly organized as a pilot project and our findings showed parents liked the idea as it was very different from the usual pastimes most of the children are involved in and the children had fun while reading and writing.
