WHY YOU SHOULD FIRST AVOID MILK 🥛 IF YOU HAVE ACNE?!?

1. It may increase insulin/IGF-1 signaling
Milk can stimulate pathways involving insulin and IGF-1, which may increase oil production and encourage processes involved in acne formation.
2. It can increase sebum (skin oil) 🧴
More sebum can make it easier for pores to become clogged, creating an environment where acne develops.
3. It may promote clogged pores
The hormonal and metabolic effects of milk may increase keratinocyte activity, contributing to blocked pores.
4. Some studies associate milk—especially skim milk—with more acne
Observational research has repeatedly found an association between higher milk consumption and acne, with some studies finding a stronger association with skim or low-fat milk.
5. Your personal response may be different
Not everyone breaks out from milk. A practical way to find out is to remove milk for about 4–8 weeks, keep the rest of your diet and skincare relatively consistent, and watch your acne. If there is a noticeable improvement, milk may be one of your personal triggers.

🫵🏾 Your skin is your body’s largest organ, but it relies on the rest of your body to stay healthy. One important connection is with your digestive system, often called the gut–skin axis.

Here’s how it works:

1. Your gut absorbs the nutrients your skin needs

After you eat, your intestines absorb nutrients and send them into your bloodstream. Your skin uses these nutrients to repair itself, produce collagen, maintain its protective barrier, and stay healthy.

If your gut isn’t absorbing nutrients effectively, your skin may not get enough of what it needs to function well.

2. Your gut influences inflammation

Your gut and immune system are closely connected. If the gut becomes inflamed or its balance is disrupted, it can increase inflammation in the body.

Increased inflammation may contribute to skin problems such as acne, eczema, or rosacea in some people. It’s not the only cause of these conditions, but it can be one contributing factor.

3. Your gut contains beneficial microbes

Your intestines are home to trillions of microorganisms that help digest food, support the immune system, and maintain the health of the gut lining.

When these microbes are well balanced, they help support overall health. When that balance is disrupted, it may affect inflammation and, in some people, skin health.

4. Your gut helps remove waste

The digestive system processes food and removes waste from the body. When digestion is functioning well, your body is better able to eliminate waste products efficiently.

Ingredients that reduce or regulate
skin oiliness:

1. Niacinamide: Niacinamide (2–5%) – One of the best-studied ingredients for reducing oiliness and improving enlarged pores.

2. Zinc PCA: Zinc PCA (0.1–1%) – Helps reduce sebum production while also providing antimicrobial benefits.

3. Salicylic Acid: Salicylic Acid (0.5–2%) – Unclogs pores and helps control oily skin.

4. Sulfur: Sulfur (2–10%) – Reduces oiliness and helps treat acne.

5. L- Carnitine: L-Carnitine (0.5–2%) – Helps reduce oil production by influencing fatty acid metabolism in sebaceous glands.

6. Willow herb: Epilobium angustifolium (Willowherb) Extract – Helps regulate oil and soothe irritated skin.
