This special edition was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the S50 model, honoring a decade of its distinctive design and shaving performance.

The most distinctive feature of the S50 is its shaving character, which closely approaches the feel of a traditional straight razor.

The S50 is manufactured from duplex stainless steel, a material known for its exceptional mechanical strength, rigidity, and corrosion resistance. Its high strength provides a significant advantage in the head mechanism. The head firmly clamps the 50 mm blade from both above and below, creating extremely stable support directly behind the cutting edge.

This secure and balanced clamping greatly reduces blade flex, bending, and micro-vibrations during shaving. As a result, the cutting edge remains more stable as it moves across the skin and through the beard, allowing the user’s hand movements to be transferred to the blade with greater precision and control.

The resulting sensation is quite different from the thinner, more flexible character commonly associated with traditional safety-razor blades. The cutting edge feels more solid, stable, and direct. This gives the S50 a remarkably straight-razor-like shaving experience, with a distinctive sense of precision, control, and cutting authority.

Duplex stainless steel was therefore selected not only for its durability and outstanding resistance to corrosion. Its exceptional mechanical properties, combined with the S50’s blade-clamping geometry, form the foundation of the razor’s unique shaving character:

The side edges of the top cap are reinterpreted through precise hand-finishing, following the sharp geometry achieved by CNC machining.

Using a hand file, a controlled radius is carefully introduced, softening the transitions without compromising the part’s original geometry or structural definition.

This is not a standard edge-breaking operation. Each edge is individually refined with micron-level control, ensuring symmetry, surface continuity, and a balanced flow of light across the form.

Beyond tactile improvement, this process directly influences how the surface interacts with light—creating a more controlled, deeper, and refined reflection profile from every angle.
