Lush Looks Makeup

Pinterest is one of the most useful tools for bridal inspiration — but it can also create very unrealistic expectations.

Many bridal references are editorial images, Caucasian models, or brides whose features, colouring and face shape may be completely different from yours.

That doesn’t mean the reference is useless.

It just means I’m not looking at it as something to copy exactly.

I’m looking at:

• what you keep gravitating towards
• the colours you like
• how soft or defined you want the makeup
• the eye shape and lash effect
• the hairstyle and overall mood
• whether those elements will actually work with your own features

Because a beautiful bridal look isn’t about reproducing someone else’s face.

It’s about understanding the inspiration — and adapting it so it looks beautiful on you.

If you’re preparing for your bridal trial, save the references you love. Just remember: we’re using them to understand your taste, not to copy another bride exactly.

For this look, I created a low textured ponytail with soft twists through the crown and gentle movement through the length. The delicate floral hairpiece adds just enough detail without taking attention away from the hairstyle itself.

I love ponytails like this for brides who want their hair down but still want something polished, intentional and special enough for the wedding day.

One thing about being self-employed: when you step back, the business steps back with you.

After my firstborn, I was back doing bridal makeup about a month after giving birth. I could still take clients, but the quieter parts of running a business — content, marketing, planning, staying visible online — definitely didn’t keep up.

And naturally, the business slowed down.

With the twins, it was even more intense. Two babies and one toddler meant the first few months were simply about getting through each day and looking after the family.

I still worked when I could, but building the business had to take a back seat.

Now that the twins have finally started infant care, I have proper working time again — and I’m figuring out how to rebuild that momentum.

Restart number two.

I’m documenting the process this time: what works, what doesn’t, and what it actually takes to grow a beauty business again while raising three kids.

For this look, I kept the skin fresh and luminous, then used warm rosy tones across the eyes, cheeks and lips to bring colour to her complexion without competing with her beautiful floral dress.

A softly defined eye, fluttery lashes and that healthy flush of blush give her enough presence for photos while still looking natural and elegant in person.

One of my favourite things about makeup is finding that balance between enhancing the features and complementing the entire look—the outfit, hairstyle, colours and occasion. 🤍

A lot of my brides tell me the same thing:

“I want natural makeup.”
“I still want to look like myself.”

And I completely understand that.

But here’s the thing — a lot of us in Singapore don’t actually wear much makeup on a normal day.

So if “looking like yourself” means looking almost exactly the same as you do every day, then I don’t think that should be the goal of professional bridal makeup.

You should still be recognisably you, but more polished, more balanced and more refined.

Your skin should look better. Your features should be enhanced. Your hair should complete the entire look.

Natural doesn’t have to mean barely there.

To me, good bridal styling should make you look like you, but better.

From Clara to camera-ready Clara ✨

Did this makeup & hair for my good friend Clara earlier this year for a video shoot, and I love how the final look came together. 🤍

The goal wasn’t to transform her into someone else — just to polish everything for camera while still keeping her features and personality very much her.

Fresh skin, softly defined eyes, a little warmth and colour, and hair that feels polished without looking overly styled.

And yes, doing makeup for a friend somehow comes with 50% makeup and 50% catching up. 😂
