English grammar for IELTS preparation and English language
Sentence is a group of words that keeps complete meaning is called sentence.
How many parts of a sentence?
There are two parts of a sentence;
Subject and predicate!
Subject carries action of a sentence while predicate gives us information about the subject so look at the following sentences.
I am writing a notebook.
He is playing cricket.
She sings a song
You watch a movie.
We study the books.
In the above sentences I,he,she, you and we are subjects while rest of the sentences are predicates.
Supposed I is subject in the first sentence and writing a notebook is predicate, which shows activity of the subject.
Now we talked about the kinds of sentence.
Simple sentence?
Simple sentence which has subject and verb like;
I play cricket.
Compound sentence?
Compound sentence has two independent clauses which connects with coordinating conjunction (and,but,of,for etc).
I go to school and Ahmad does labour work.
We play cricket and he watches the match.
Complex sentence?
Complex sentence has one independent and one dependent clause which connected with subordinate conjunction (because, although,though,so,then etc).
I did not meet him because I had an urgent return home
We are waiting while he went home.

The word grammar coined from Greek word (gramma) means letter something written (Tike) means art , skill.
What is English grammar?
Every language has its rules and regulations and those rules and regulations are known grammar.
Supposed where we should to keep subject,verb and object so it teaches us method to arrange words in a sentence;
Look at the following sentences!
I play cricket.
He writes a letter.
They are watching movie.
From The above sentences we could learn that there is a proper arrangement regards subject+verb+object also have subject and verb agreement.But if we arrange these words improperly means we don't know about the rules so then we commit errors and will convey not complete meaning to the reader or listeners.look at the following sentences;
Play cricket I.
They writing letter.
She clean the house.
You have read and checked the above sentences the first two sentences are totally wrong because no arrangement of subject, verb and object but in random form so these don't carry complete or proper meaning while in the third one there is no subject verb agreement it will be correctly like;
She cleans the house.
It means that all these rules we will learn in grammar that how we could properly arrange sentences according to grammar rules, in this way we can improve our English language.
