Looking at this reflection and realizingโฆ I finally recognize the person looking back at me.
For a long time, I only look in the mirror to check for flaws, fix my hair, or make sure I looked โacceptableโ for the roles I was playing: parent, employee, spouse, adult.
But midlife does something interesting. It strips away the need to perform. Iโm not posting this because I need validation. Iโm posting it as a receipt: I am here, I am evolving, and Iโm actually really proud of the person Iโve become to get to this point.
