A good relationship with God in the center starts when Jesus is the center, not pressure, not performance, not trying to impress anybody. That kind of relationship has grace in it. It has room to breathe. It does not make somebody feel like they gotta earn love from God or from each other. It’s love that draws, not force that drags.
You cannot make somebody fall in love with God, but you can show them what that looks like. That’s the real thing. A godly relationship is not two perfect people acting holy in front of each other. It’s two imperfect people leaning on the perfect One. If one person is always trying to control the other, that ain’t covering, that’s choking. God’s way is cleaner than that.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” That’s the center right there. Grace first. Faith first. Jesus first. When He is in the middle, you stop building a relationship like it’s a paycheck, like you do enough and God owes you something. You start relating to Him like a Father who already loves you.
So the simple picture is this, keep Jesus in the middle of the table. Keep prayer honest. Keep grace loud. Keep pressure low. And if a relationship pulls you away from God more than it pulls you toward Him, that’s a red flag waving right in your face.
