April 1, 2026: 1st Day Prayer Preparation: ENTITLEMENT: The Hidden Infection Of The Heart

Sis. Arcelyn Gonzales

Church, we pray for healing. We pray for justice. We pray for the restoration of our nation. But let me ask you something… while we are praying, are we also releasing words filled with anger, contempt, bitterness, and curses toward others? Yes, we lift our voices to God- but sometimes, our hearts are far from Him.

Tonight, I want us to examine a hidden condition that blocks true revival. It’s called entitlement- the hidden infection of the heart.

Before I heal the land, can I heal you first?

Entitlement: The Hidden Infection of the Heart.

True Revival Starts Small

True revival is not measured by the crowd you gather, the programs you organize, or the nation you try to fix. It starts in your heart, with your attitude toward God and your neighbor.”

Scripture Anchor:

2 Chronicles 7:14 - ‘If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.’

“Before God heals our land, He wants to heal you. Before He restores the nation, He wants to restore your heart.”

Entitlement- The Hidden Infection

Let’s get real. Entitlement is a spiritual condition where a person begins to believe that blessings are not gifts but rights. They feel they deserve what is given to them and that others owe them recognition, comfort, or reward.

Clinical Signs of Entitlement:

1. “Bakit siya lagi napapansin? Parehas naman kami ah.”- Hindi na appreciation ang tingin—comparison na.
2. “Idea ko ‘yun… bakit siya yung na-recognize?”- Gusto mo ng impact, pero mas gusto mo ng credit.
3. “Ang bagal naman! Wala ba silang pakialam sa oras ko?”- Dahil inconvenient, feeling mo may karapatan kang mainis o mag-react harshly.
4. “Hindi man lang ako ininvite? Hindi man lang ako namention?”- Hindi ka lang nasaktan—parang feeling mo may kulang na dapat ibinigay sayo.
5. “Dapat ganito ‘yung nangyari.”- Hindi na suggestion—expectation na dapat sundin.
6. “After everything I did… wala man lang?”- Nagiging utang ng iba ang kabutihan mo.
7. “Ayoko na. Ang tagal. Hindi ko deserve ‘to.”- Konting discomfort lang, gusto mo nang umalis o mag-react.
8. “Puro na lang ganito! Nakakainis na!”- Hindi na observation—complaining na ang default ng puso.
9. “Tinama pa ako? Eh alam ko naman ‘yun.”- Correction feels like attack, hindi growth.
10. “Papansinin ko siya pag nauna siya.”- Kindness becomes a transaction, not a choice.

If this resonates with you, this is not just a situation issue. It is a heart issue that needs to be checked.

Cure for Entitlement

Count Your Blessings

1 Thessalonians 5:18 – ‘Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.’

Counting your blessings is not about forcing positivity. It’s about re-learning how to see. It’s God teaching us to see life through His eyes, not through the lens of what we feel we deserve.

Positive Perspective

Romans 8:28 – ‘And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.’

When we choose to see God’s purpose in everything, even in hardship, our hearts shift from entitlement to gratitude.

Recognize Grace as a Gift

Ephesians 2:8-9 – ‘For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.’

Luke 23:43 – ‘Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.’

When we see things as rights, we stop seeing them as gifts. And when we stop seeing gifts, we stop being grateful.

Revival begins in the heart. Healing begins in the heart. Gratitude begins in the heart. Let us allow God to check our hearts for entitlement. Let us count our blessings. Let us shift our perspective. And let us embrace every grace as a gift. When we do, the anger, the bitterness, the comparison, the expectation- all of that fades. And the healing of our nation begins… not outside, but within.

Ask yourself today: Am I seeing God’s blessings as rights, or am I seeing them as gifts? Am I holding onto anger and expectation, or am I walking in gratitude and humility? Let the Lord heal you, and let revival truly start from within.
