𝙊𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙬𝙚 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚, 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙬𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙤 𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙨.

Some days, surviving the week is already an achievement. Some days, the most ordinary things take more of us than we are willing to admit. And some days, we become so occupied with keeping everything together that we forget to ask ourselves if we are still okay.

Perhaps healing does not always look like getting better. Sometimes, it is allowing ourselves to rest without feeling guilty. It is learning that we do not have to earn our right to breathe, that we can be proud of ourselves even when we have not done enough, and that being a work in progress does not make us any less worthy of love.

We often remind others to be gentle with themselves, yet struggle to offer the same gentleness to the person we meet in the mirror. Maybe today is a good place to start.

This World Mental Health Day, may we remember that we are more than our productivity, our achievements, and the expectations we carry. We are human beings, not just people trying to keep up with life.

And if all you managed to do today was get through it, I hope you know that you do not have to turn your survival into something extraordinary for it to matter.

You, too, deserve the kind of understanding you so freely give to others.

Happy World Mental Health Day. May we make a little more room for rest, for honesty, and for the parts of ourselves that are still learning how to be okay.

As the Sociology Students’ Society prepares to send off our 4th-year Sosyals for their On-the-Job Training journey, we present the official program flow for the upcoming PAGTUGYAN: 1st Send-Off Ceremony.

The ceremony will feature meaningful messages, an inspirational talk, the presentation of OJT students, the giving of nameplates, and the Panata sa Larangan: Sociology OJT Commitment.

Noong Oktubre 3, 2026, ginanap ang halalan para sa panibagong konseho ng Philippine Sociological Society (PSS) sa MSU-CETD Campus. Inihalal si G. Marco D. Aguja mula sa Departamento ng Sosyolohiya bilang Bise-Presidente, ang natatanging kinatawan mula sa MSU-General Santos City sa PSS Board.

Ikinagagalak ng Sociology Students’ Society ang pagkakatalaga sa panibagong tungkulin at responsibilidad ni G. Aguja. Ang kaniyang pagkahalal ay hindi lamang pagkilala sa kaniyang kakayahan bilang isang lider, kundi isang pagkakataong higit pang mapalawak ang tinig ng mga mag-aaral at ng komunidad ng Sosyolohiya sa mas malawak na larangan.

Nawa’y maging makabuluhan ang iyong panunungkulan at magsilbing daan upang patuloy na isulong ang diwa ng Sosyolohiya—ang pag-unawa sa lipunan, pakikiisa sa komunidad, at pagsusulong ng makatarungang pagbabago.

Working with the Sama Dilaut community in Barangay Bawing, General Santos City, the study examines how displacement, discrimination, and barriers to education, employment, and basic services sustain poverty. Its findings provide a basis for gender-responsive policies and community initiatives grounded in residents’ needs and experiences.
