I love the second appointment after a big change. I mostly do big transformations when I take video to post. It’s a small screen, you can’t feel the hair or see how differently it moves, or even how much shinier it is after an appointment. Tiny changes don’t look as cool on camera! The big focus to me during a 90 minute follow up appointment is refining the parts of the cut that will make it work for your specific hair, and how my choices during this time help us with your next 6 months of hair goals— and they can change or stay the same! This is Kiana and she has very very thick coarse hair. It can get fluffy and over texturized and dense, especially after a couple months of growth. You’d think that means she needs an appointment every 3-4 weeks because hair this short is “high maintenance” and there’s so much of it, but Kiana waited two whole months and the only crazy looking part was the neckline! Half of her inspo pics this time were bobs, and the others were similar to the original cut, so I squared out the neckline to let corners could grow back if she still wants a bob later (this also works because we don’t really want a fluffy mullet so we neeeeed those sides and corners to grow). By June it’ll be more 90’s, with tuck-able pieces by the ears, and flippy pieces by the neck as it gets longer. This appointment was all about making the grow out comfy and cute. Anyway, a lot of my clients are “what does that do?” people, probably because I am too, and I love it! Regardless of what gender you were raised, or what kind of hygiene skills you had the privileged of accessing, not even all hair stylists are taught how to do different hair besides make the face oval and use hot tool on frizz and wash your hair. You can have the hair you want if you have all the info!! We have options! Book w me Tuesday or Friday and we can talk about it🏄‍♂️

There’s a lovely balance and middle ground between those who give you complete creative freedom, & those who pull out a different “inspo pic” or whatever you wanna call it, every time— and that’s @youajonathan! Every type of client is essential to our growth. We started with an undercut, taper, to a perm, mullet, and now a good ol skin fade! The sky’s the limit when it comes to haircuts. It also depends on the season..OUR season. We as artists go through creative phases, ruts, highs, lows—but that’s the whole journey and the force to be reckoned with 😈 It’s okay to go through them. When she wants a little bit of a S**g ✂️, but more of The Mullet ✂️ . . . I had so much fun cutting this haircut 🙌🏼!! After talking about what my client wanted and looking over her inspiration pics , I customized her haircut just for her 🫶🏼!! I used my new 6” Curve Scissors ✂️ by @arcscissors to create her razor like finish 🙌🏼!! This scissor’s blade is made for carving and sliding , and let me tell you with ease !! At Home Haircut! I started cutting my hair myself around a year and a half ago. Yes, I was a stylist for 16 yrs! When we moved to Alabama, I tried out 6 different stylist and just couldn’t find the right fit. I decided to try cutting it myself. I was surprised at how it turned out. Is it perfect, nope! But it works for me! I do not recommend cutting your own hair. If you do try this and it works out, send me pics.
