Baguio 36 years after the
July 16, 1990, at 4:26 p.m., an estimated 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Luzon, lasting 45 seconds. One of the hardest hit cities was Baguio City, which was isolated from the rest of the Philippines for the first 48 hours after the quake.
The event was a result of strike-slip movements along the Philippine Fault and the Digdig Fault within the Philippine Fault System. The earthquake's epicenter was near the town of Rizal, Nueva Ecija, northeast of Cabanatuan City. An estimated 1,621 people were killed, most of the fatalities located in Central Luzon and the Cordillera region.

Juan’s Roast Beef Diner😋 One of Baguio's best-kept dining secrets👌🏻
If you're craving perfectly slow-roasted U.S. beef served with rich, homemade gravy, this is the place to be. Every bite is tender, flavorful, and definitely worth the trip.
We tried their Soup of the Day, Black Winter Truffle Pasta, and their signature Roast Beef Plate and all I can say is, RAPSA!!!
The roast beef was perfectly slow-roasted, incredibly tender, and paired with a rich homemade gravy. The pasta was creamy and aromatic, while the soup was the perfect way to start the meal.

Baguio City Welcomes First Tourist First Aid Booth
Baguio City has reached another milestone in tourism development as it receives one of three Tourist First Aid Booths, a commendable initiative that places visitor safety and emergency preparedness at the forefront of the city's tourism experience.
The official turnover ceremony was attended by TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Mark T. Lapid, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong, representatives from the Department of Tourism – Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR), the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO), and the City Engineering Office (CEO), underscoring the collaborative efforts of national and local government agencies in strengthening tourism infrastructure.
The first of three Tourist First Aid Booths has been strategically installed in Burnham Park, while the booths for Bayan Park and the Baguio Botanical Garden are yet to be constructed.
Designed as compact, solar-powered emergency response facilities, each booth is equipped with essential first aid supplies, a pull-out stretcher, an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), CCTV cameras, and a two-way communication system directly linked to the Baguio Smart City Command Center. These modern features enable faster emergency response while enhancing public safety through smart technology.
The project is a joint initiative of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) with the Department of Health (DOH) aimed at improving tourist safety and emergency preparedness in key tourism destinations nationwide. Prior to the installation, representatives from TIEZA, DOT-CAR, and the City Government of Baguio conducted site inspections to identify the most strategic locations for the facilities.
More than an infrastructure investment, the Tourist First Aid Booths reflect the shared commitment of TIEZA, DOT-CAR, and the City Government of Baguio to creating a safer, more resilient, and visitor-friendly tourism environment. As Baguio continues to welcome travelers from across the country and around the world, this pioneering initiative reinforces the city's reputation as one of the Philippines' premier tourism destinations where innovation, accessibility, and public safety go hand in hand.
