TODAY I TURN 50!

And it feels like the perfect day to share a little of my story with you…

At 17 years old, I began studying Beauty Therapy at the Joyce Blok Institute with one big dream - one day I wanted to own my own salon.

By 21, that dream had become a reality when I purchased my first little salon in Tauranga. It had around 50 active clients when I took over, and within just a few months I was fully booked and employing my first staff member.

And that was really only the beginning!

Over the years I’ve been a beauty therapist, salon owner, manager, tutor, trainer and mentor. I’ve opened salons, grown businesses, closed doors when the time was right, started again, taken risks, made mistakes, learnt A LOT and continued to evolve with an industry that I absolutely love.

Along the way I also married my wonderful husband, raised our three boys and somehow managed to squeeze in my other great love - dancing, teaching and organising Kizomba events! 💃😂

Immerse was a huge part of my life for almost 20 years. It was a business I poured so much of myself into and one that gave me so many wonderful memories, friendships and lessons along the way.

In January 2026, we sold Immerse, closing one very special chapter of my life and allowing me to put all of my energy, experience and passion into Lox Skin & Spa, my focus now and a business I’m incredibly excited about continuing to grow.

Today, at 50, I look around our beautiful Lox salon and I’m incredibly proud of what we have created.

I still love learning.
I still love skin.
I still love creating beautiful experiences.
I still get excited about new treatments and technology.
And most importantly, I still love looking after people.

If there is one thing 50 years has taught me, it’s that life rarely follows a perfectly straight path. Sometimes you have to change direction, start again, take a risk and trust yourself.

I’ve always been a big believer that if I set my mind to something, I’ll find a way to make it happen. That determined 17-year-old girl is definitely still in there! 😂

To every client who has walked through my doors over the years, whether you’ve been with me for 25+ years or you’ve only just discovered Lox - thank you.

You have supported my businesses, trusted me and my teams, recommended us to friends and family, and allowed me to continue doing something I genuinely love.

So today I’m celebrating 50 years of life, over 30 years in an industry I adore, my family, my beautiful team, our wonderful clients and everything still to come. 🥂

I certainly don’t feel finished yet…
