Cold plunging won't melt fat overnight. But it does something more useful. Here's what's actually going on 👉

According to Dr. Susanna Søberg, PhD, regular cold exposure activates brown fat, improves insulin sensitivity and trains your body to handle stress better, all over time.

Compression clears the circulation. What happens when you add hands-on work after it?

Sequential air pressure moves fluid through your legs, clears the backup, drives circulation to where it needs to go. That's the whole job, and the sleeves do it well.

Sports massage builds on that, it doesn't rescue it. George, our Level 6 remedial sports massage therapist, starts once compression has already cleared the general congestion, then works into the specific spot that's been tight since your last long run. Circulation first, technique second.

Run the two together and you get 1 hour 30 minutes: compression first, sports massage after. Booked as a combo it's $110, saving you 15% than if you were to book separately.

Massage runs Thursday to Sunday, so if you've got a long run or a heavy training week behind you, it's worth booking ahead. 💪

Noticed more people lacing up before dawn again? We have too. Spring brings the runners back, and this month we're seeing more of you walking through the door after long runs than at any other point in the year.

Longer days mean longer runs. Longer runs mean more for your body to process before the next one. That's where recovery either keeps pace with your training, or quietly falls behind it.

👉 Float sessions bring the inflammation down and shift your nervous system out of sympathetic overdrive.
👉 Compression clears the fluid and lactic acid your legs are carrying by the time you get here.
👉 Contrast therapy, heat then cold, keeps circulation moving and swelling down.
Sports massage finds what the other three miss.

Build the routine in now, while the season's still building. It changes what your legs feel like in a few months, not just after this weekend's long run.

Something a recent visitor Ashley said stuck with us this week.

Having someone else there doesn't make the heat or the cold any easier to sit with. It just makes it harder to step out before the timer's done.

Most people assume company changes the experience itself. It doesn't. The temperature doesn't move because there's someone next to you. What moves is your willingness to stay in it.

Turns out motivation isn't always a mantra you repeat in your head. Sometimes it's just someone else already in the water, holding their ground 👊

Can you bring someone in with you? People ask this more than almost anything else.

Short answer: yes. The sauna comfortably fits four, the ice bath fits two. Book together and the second person's session is free, with a small additional fee if you bring a third or fourth.

The heat and cold don't care who's in there with you. Parasympathetic rest is parasympathetic rest, whether you're on your own or not, and the cold still does its job on inflammation and mood either way. What changes is whether you actually turn up. It's a lot harder to cancel on a Friday afternoon when someone else is expecting you to be there.

If your week usually ends with the couch instead of forty minutes of contrast therapy, this is worth testing with someone booked in alongside you. A partner, a training buddy, whoever you can talk into it. We'll sort the bookings.

"Wait… an Oxygen Bar? What does that actually do?"

If you've never tried one, it sounds futuristic... but it’s actually one of the simplest 15-minute resets you can give your brain.

You just sit back in our lounge with a comfortable headset and breathe in purified, oxygen-enriched air.

The result?
🧠 Clears brain fog & sharpens focus
😮‍💨 Calms a racing nervous system
🔋 Delivers clean energy (minus the coffee jitters)

How to use it: Add 15 minutes before your float to help your mind slow down faster, or after to anchor that post-float calm.

No changing, no pods, no setup. Just 15 minutes of pure breathing room.

💡 Ask our team to add an Oxygen session to your next booking!

Spring's here, the clocks change soon, and the days are about to stretch out a little longer. Weekday sessions are the easiest way to make the most of it: less crowded, better value, and a proper reset before school holidays fill the calendar back up at the end of the month.

Get in now while weekdays are still quiet. Check out our special weekday pricing and book to secure your spot 👉https://floatation.co.nz/

Many people float or sauna solo. There's something different about doing it side by side, sharing the same heat, the same stretch of quiet, the same forty minutes with nowhere else to be. It's not a date idea dressed up as wellness, it's just easier to make time for the things you actually want to keep doing when someone's in it with you.

Bring your partner, a friend, or the colleague who needs it more than they'll admit.

Still thinking about Father's Day?

A voucher takes 2 minutes to sort and gives him something that doesn't need a home on a shelf. No socks, no novelty mug, no gadget that lives in the third drawer down. Just a session — sauna, cold plunge, or both — and the recovery that comes after it.

He'd never book it for himself. And that's exactly the point!

Vouchers online or in person, ready whenever he is 👉 https://floatation.co.nz/
