The apex is the highest point of structure on a nail enhancement. It’s what gives the nail strength and balance so it can handle everyday pressure without snapping or cracking.

We build the apex up over the "stress area" of the nail, which is usually the middle point of the nail plate.
As your natural nail grows out, so does the apex move toward the free edge of the nail.
We need to infill the nail and rebalance it before the free edge gets too heavy from the apex. This is usually every 2-3 weeks.

Why do we build the apex up?

-It adds strength without making the whole nail thick
-It prevents breakage at the stress area
-It keeps longer nails balanced
-And a bonus is that it creates a professional and esthetically pleasing side profile of the nail

We can build the apex up with different types of products such as:

Rubber base & colour
Liquid Future gel
Future gel
Next level builder
Acrylic

And so many more! However, you cannot build an apex with your standard gel polish.

The classic French Tip that will never be outdated. We love to hate it! It's much harder and time consuming than clients think!

Below are a few common mistakes that you can fix to make those appointments run alot smoother:

🔹️uneven smile line - find your favourite liner brush because this plays a huge roll in accuracy.I love the 0 Long brush from Brillbird.

🔹️a bulky free edge - less is more with the right white gel product. If you use a high pigmented white or colour, you won't need to add alot of product on. Too much product will result in a bump on the nail where the white or colour meets the base colour. No one wants that

🔹️wrong brush angle - you want your brush angle to be angled at a 45° angle, not a 90° angle. This will help with control and with a much more even smile line.

🔹️too much coffee beforehand! - I'm a sucker for this one! You need a steady hand and coffee will never help that. Eat a snack before if you feel low in sugar or have the shakes. I promise this helps!
