Sano is about connecting people — like-minded individuals on a shared journey toward health and vitality.
It’s a place where you’ll find support, encouragement, and tools to make lasting changes.
Last week I was in Auckland completing my MLD & CDT recertification.
Every two years, I undertake recertification to maintain my accreditation with the Dr Vodder School and my registration with the Australasian Lymphology Association
But why is this important?
It’s about much more than simply keeping a certificate current.
Ongoing education helps me refresh and strengthen my knowledge, refine my hands-on techniques, stay up to date with current best practice, and continue providing safe, effective and professional care.
Lymphoedema and lymphatic conditions can be complex, and no two clients are exactly the same. Continuing to learn means I can keep developing my skills and knowledge to better support the people who trust me with their care.
So while recertification means heading back to the classroom and getting plenty of practical hours in, it’s an important part of maintaining high professional standards.
Always learning. Always refining. Always committed to providing the best care I can.

Sleep is one of the most important and often overlooked parts of the recovery .
Whether you’re recovering from an injury, surgery, rebuilding muscle after training, or simply giving your nervous system a chance to reset, quality sleep plays a huge role.
While you sleep, your body gets to work on repairing tissue, supporting muscle recovery, regulating stress, and restoring the nervous system.
Surgery and tissue trauma can temporarily disrupt lymphatic vessels. When fluid enters the tissue faster than it can be removed oedema develops.
Swelling is a normal part of the healing process, but excessive or persistent swelling may contribute to longer recovery time, restricted range of movement, fibrosis, pain and discomfort.
MLD can be indicated in the early stages of recovery. Working proximal to the injury or surgical site.
Once the skin is fully healed and sealed, incorporating gentle scar therapy techniques to support tissue remodelling and symptomatic scars can help improve tissue health and mobility, altered sensation, reduce pain and tensile load on your connective tissue.

How can MLD and scar therapy support your patients?
Our new information and referral packs are now ready!
I’m incredibly passionate about supporting and empowering patients throughout their recovery following surgery or a traumatic injury.
These packs provide health professionals with clear information about Manual Lymphatic Drainage and scar therapy, including when a referral may be appropriate and how these treatments can complement a patient’s wider recovery plan.
If you’re a healthcare professional and would like a pack for your clinic, please get in touch.
I’m so excited to try out this thoughtfully put together scar kit by FLOW at home.
It contains:
•Scarless Solution oil
•Flow Vibe ll
•MyScar silicone
This kit makes caring for your scar at home easy with three simple steps to incorporate into your daily routine.
My first thoughts is what a wonderful gift this would be for someone recovering surgery or a caesarean birth.
I’m looking forward to exploring these products in more depth.
Your scar may be in one location, but the impact may be more global.
Scars can influence much more than just appearance. When tissue becomes tight, sensitive or less mobile, the body may find new ways to move.
When the body adapts how it moves, it can contribute to restrictions and discomfort further away from the scar.
Scar therapy considers the whole person, not just the visible scar. We asses:
• sensation
• tissue mobility
• breathing
• posture
• whole body movement
Testing out my new 6D Action negative pressure device on myself this morning.
Why would I incorporate the 6D Action Device into your treatment plan?
Using controlled negative pressure, I can gently lift and decompress the tissues to support tissue mobility, circulation and lymphatic fluid movement.
Depending on your individual needs, I may use it to support:
•Scar tissue — helping improve tissue mobility where scars feel tight or restricted.
•Lymphoedema — supporting fluid movement as part of your personalised lymphatic care.
•Lipoedema — supporting circulation, fluid movement and tissue comfort.
You may notice your tissues feeling softer, lighter and more mobile after treatment.
*I’ll always assess your tissues and tailor your treatment accordingly and making sure your individual needs at the centre.
Meet the 6D Action device.
A gentle, targeted negative pressure used to support scar mobility, tissue glide and lymphatics.
Keep your eyes peeled as I will be posting more on the benefits of both the 6D Action and 6D tape.
