I’ve been doing Deborah's hair for around 6 years, so I know her hair, her wave pattern and, importantly, its limits.

This full head of foils was carefully planned around maintaining the integrity of her hair. That means knowing when to lighten, when to leave it alone, using the right products at home, and not pushing the lightener too frequently.

Today, I had the absolute pleasure of working with a beautiful client who’d travelled all the way from Florida. When we began her appointment, it quickly became clear that her hair was very hydrophobic. Hydrophobic hair is dehydrated from within the hair shaft, which makes it hard for moisture and products to pe*****te. So, instead of absorbing moisture, products tend to just sit on the outside, which can lead to build-up, dullness, and curls that never quite reach their full potential. To address this, I first clarified her hair to remove some of that built-up that’s creating a barrier. And then I used a moistursing cleanser under steam. The gentle heat helped soften the cuticle, which let hydration actually pe*****te the hair and not just sit on top. From there, I followed with conditioning and hydration techniques to seal that moisture in. And as you can see, the results speak for themselves. Healthy curls don’t happen by chance. They happen when you understand the science of the hair and give it exactly what it needs. Just science. Not magic.
