Bamboo and recycled toilet paper both reduce reliance on virgin forest fibre, but they solve different problems.

Recycled paper gives existing fibres another life, while bamboo is a rapidly renewable grass that regenerates after harvest without replanting.

Bathrooms of the 1930s reflected an era when craftsmanship and permanence shaped domestic architecture. Thick tiled walls, built-in recesses, colourful ceramics and substantial fixtures gave these spaces a remarkable sense of solidity.

Many have survived nearly a century with much of their original character intact which is a testament to both their construction and timeless design.

The late 1980s and early 1990s saw bathrooms become increasingly architectural. Rather than relying on decoration alone, designers used geometry, light, stone and glass to shape the experience of the space.
