Fun times at the Middlemore Kid's First Xmas Party. 🎉🎅🎁🎄...

Attending events like this really puts things into perspective. 💯 Talking to a few of the Dads that have given up their well paying jobs to look after their unwell kids full time... learning the stories of a lot of the kids that live life constantly in and out of hospital... talking to mothers that juggle caring for unwell kids as well as making time for everyone else in their household, and dealing with financial stress on top of that... In my mind, I was there to offer a few free haircuts to brighten up their day a little, but just how grateful they all were, for someone going out of their way to help lift some of that financial pressure a little, and for me taking the time to give them a great cut... the smile from a young kid after their haircut, when they might have been struggling for reasons to smile because of their health... that's a reward for me thats beyond measure.

I was holding back tears for a lot of the event firstly because of the stories of hardship I was hearing, secondly seeing the Joy of the kids at the event regardless of their circumstances, and lastly because realised I had lost sight of the blessings that I have and know now that I can't take them for granted!
