stop scrolling and listen up - if you suffer from redness, sensitivity, dehydration, fine lines, bumpy skin… these are not all separate skin issues that need to be treated as such. oh no. these are all signs and symptoms of a damaged roof, aka an impaired barrier. and when you’re working with a skin therapist who understands this, your treatment is going to be very different, simplified, and create long term sustainable skin results ✌🏼

Remember the roof of the house analogy I shared the other day? Here it is in action…
All of these concerns read like individual skin issues, which traditional beauty therapists would treat individually - exfoliating to reduce bumps and breakouts, hyaluronic acid for the dehydration, oil controlling cleansers that strip away what little barrier you have remaining for shiny foreheads and acne…
When the real issue is your barrier. Your roof has holes in it. And can you see how the options presented above would cause further issues? The exfoliating will further dehydrate and strip your remaining barrier, you’ll dehydrate MORE, which leads to more congestion (this deserves its own post, coming soon!) the HA will likely sting as it goes too deep too fast…
Barrier repair is crucial. Barrier-focused skin care is what you need.🤍

The number one thing I have said to clients in my 10 years working specifically with the skin is “your barrier is like the roof of your house. Don’t put expensive furniture in when it has holes in it”
But what do I mean by this? Too many actives, layering too many products and ingredients- all can lead to irritation and barrier disruption. Focus on strengthening your barrier - my go-to is with oils, specifically omegas - from both a topical and internal approach, and THEN bring in the “corrective” ingredients to treat your other, specific concerns.
Aging, pigmentation, redness, acne, congestion- they’re all made worse or exacerbated by a damaged barrier. Let’s fix that first and then everything functions properly ✨
