Natural lip blush for this gorgeous client, who regularly travels to New Zealand and booked me for her next trip back.

Her brief was simple: she doesn’t wear lipstick, doesn’t want anything too pink, and will sometimes define her lips with a nude-brown liner.

She wanted more symmetry, balance and definition, but most importantly, she wanted it to look like her lips, just better defined.

This is where the consultation matters.

We talked through colour, what would suit her natural lip tone and how lip blush differs from makeup, so the result could work with her existing routine rather than against it.

Then we mapped her shape based on what we actually have to work with: her natural lip tissue.

Symmetry and balance are created within the existing lip tissue. I’m not redesigning the lips or creating a shape that doesn’t belong to them. Only in rare circumstances, such as medical trauma to the area, would I consider working beyond the natural lip tissue.

The goal was never to make her look like she’s wearing lip colour.

It was to give her lips the definition and balance she was missing, while keeping them completely natural to her.

She travelled from Hamilton to the North Shore for this transformation.
