We also do curl upstyles where we style your hair using your natural texture. All textures!

When we first opened our salon doors over 6 years ago we could not find any suitable brands or hair model images available that aligned with our vision. All advertising material looked the same- straight, blonde, texture-free hair. Every salon had the same look. This just didn’t feel right for us.

We decided to ask our clients to model for us instead. It was so important that we changed the narrative of beauty and created a safe space that was inclusive and represented ALL of us. We have been following our ♥️ ever since 🙌🏽

8 years ago first began her curl journey, after a decade in the hair industry as a stylists and educator

6 years ago the Avondale UKS salon opened its doors straight out of lockdown. There were hardly any curl salons or specialists anywhere in the country! It was time somebody served our community 🤌🏽

4 months later, Dora joined UKS. She saw the vision, saw the huge gaps in the hair & beauty industry, and was all in from day 1

5 years ago we opened our 2nd salon in Royal Oak & grew our team.. also straight out of lockdown!

4 years ago we entered our first national hair awards.. & became finalists!

3 years ago we entered our first national LIVE hair competition… and took out 5 placings!!

2 years ago we went on the AM LIVE BREAKFAST SHOW and showed NZ what we do ♥️ and then won the NZ Salon of the year award at the NZ Hair Awards ♥️♥️

1 year ago all of our stylists who entered the NZ Hair Awards placed as finalists, and a couple of us won too 🙌🏽 Dora & Kolio worked backstage at the NZFW, & we launched our bridal team with Hart & Anah

So what does 2026 look like?
Our 6th year in business?

This year we are excited to be announcing our exclusive partnership with this year at !!!

Working with natural textures, supporting Māori Pasifika artists & representing NZ beauty and art on a global platform is EVERYTHING to us🙌🏽
