The best formulas aren’t just effective, they’re manufacturable.

One of my favorite parts of formulation is taking a great idea and turning it into something that feels beautiful on the skin.

A client came to me with a list of ingredients she wanted in her hydrating serum…snail mucin, ceramides, peptides, and more. My job? To bring them together in a way that’s elegant, effective, and enjoyable to use.

Here’s a little peek into the process. 👩🏽‍🔬🧪.

When thickening your washes, there are a few factors you have to consider.
~The blend of surfactants you want to work with. What types of thickeners are they compatible with ~The physical look and feel of the wash. Do you want a gelly flow or syrupy flow? Do you want to add physical exfoliants or suspend particles in it?
There are so many other factors to consider but these few above are a starting guide.

Inside my Lab this season

The process of making a simple conditioning body wash using SLES(Texapon), Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Superfatting with Peg7 Glyceryl Cocoate. This formula is a self thickening formula. The viscosity was adjusted with salt when a slight drop in thickness was noticed after adjusting the pH of the wash. It turned out to have a really soft foam and leaves a conditioned feel on the skin ✨✨
